What printer do you use that doesn't make you want to commit suicide?

Don't cheap out. $99 printers are worth about $2.50. Invest in a Epson Workforce Pro or HP OfficeJet Pro and you won't have too many problems.

Had the Brother 7820N running for the last couple years and it works like a champ. Cheap toner, easy scanning, no duplex. Recommended.

I'm currently using an Epson all-in-one bullshit printer that I bought for $99...

What cheshire said. With a $99 printer it is a matter of "you get what you pay for". Stay away from anything that uses ink and go with a solid colour laser printer from HP, Xerox or Canon, preferably with good Adobe Postscript support and tabloid/A3 support. You're going to need to drop a few hundred but you won't be making posts about how much you hate your printer then.

Brother mfc-8890dw

I have 3 of these and they get heavy use. Never an issue.
Wireless, duplex scanning and copying, auto sheet feeder and glass top

I can honestly say I've never had a printer die on me
1. don't get a top paper loading printer
2. paper jams are caused by the inconsistencies in paper thicknesses not the printer. Buy the correct paper.
3. don't buy a printer with multiple color cartridges.
4. if you buy a laserjet stick with Brother's.

Old school HP printers were what set the standard for me and I've been disapointed since. I don't like modern HP office printers very much but Brother 5250's have done well for us here.

Just don't buy anything with ink unless you need to do photo printing. Even then, getting photos printed is usally cheaper.

I use a cheap Brother HL-2040 laser printer that has never failed me. The original toner cartridge lasted for years, and I got a no-name replacement for under $10. It's the only good printer I've ever used.

I had several inkjet printers (Epson, HP, etc.) and they were all unreliable. People don't realize that ink in those little inkjet cartridges costs about $30K a gallon. All inkjet printers are crap, and they exist solely to get you to buy the cartridges.

For scanning, I use a Canon CanoScan scanner. I prefer single function devices.

Seems a lot of you guys have good experiences with Brother. I think that's what I'm gonna get, a Brother laser multi function. They're decently priced and the online reviews are pretty good.

For those of you suggesting Epson Workforce, that's exactly what I have right now. Garbage. There's no paper in it and keeps saying paper jammed. I even took off the hood and inspected the insides... nothing. Can't even use the scanner now because somehow the brilliant engineers behind it decided that when there's an error, all functions should be blocked.

HP officejet 4255 all in one has been fine apart from the odd paper jam, but considering I don't maintain it by perioidically cleaning the gears and rollers along the tape path, I'm not surprised. Ink is a bit expensive but overall it's been a reliable unit, like all my HP gear.

HP Photosmart C4480 All-in-One (2 years without any sort of problem)

I agree with the Epson comment above, had 3, all of them having constant paper jam issues.
