What the Hell is Allowed on Facebook?

You know I've noticed something.
Half the people here that use Facebook to advertise go for the same tired old cashchow shit, without bothering to do some research into what Facebook admin or users actually respond to... It's old news that Facebook don't allow diet, gambling, adult, download or mobile stuff, unless you happen to cloak it cleverly enough or modify where it goes to after it's approved *coughcough*

HOWEVER, all the social networks allow you to micro target your audience to an amazing degree! And you know what? If you really know your audience, you cna get some great conversions on stuff that's a little bit out there.
From a single nerd specific keyword (as in that's the ONLY keyword in the whole campaign set of 6 ads), I'm pulling about ~$100 a week from a $35 spend.
I'm about to start asking my missus' dad, who's a massive jock, for some good keywords for his interests in cycling (as it turns out, he spent $2,500 on a bike frame, and there are 12% commissions on a few cycling stores in CJ)

So know your audience, target micro-specific interests, and you'll actually be able to make a multitude of smaller, but easily approved revenue streams.

Thanks Harvey for that. It's actually confirmed exactly what I've been trying to achieve the last couple of days, and really target the interests of certain demographics. Cheers. =)

@harvey: I think that's what I want to try out next too. Thanks for the post.

I've just slapped myself in the head. I have an online store selling anime/manga memorabilia which has just been sitting on my webserver collecting dust. How did this not occur to me?

CJ seems to have the most legitimate, facebook-friendly offers..

Any other networks good for it?

i don't even know about CJ..i feel like that crap would never convert unless in a PPC setting where people are actually looking to buy it..i'm sure i'm wrong though

Its strange for me to read this stuf about facebook, my ads gets approved within 10 min, and I can rund diet offers.

I guess the system is different in EU.

Thats your first problem.

Facebook is trying to keep a clean image and it appears like they don't like money so if you try and get banned shit through and are careless by not reading the guidelines they'll ban you.

If they find out you've got multiple accounts, they'll ban you.

They'll ban you for a lot of reasons all to keep there site clean, so in order to stay on top of the game to make some cash (And yes there is money to be made) you've got to be extremely careful or go the easy route and obey the rules a little more then you normally would.

meh clean image my ass. They put so much "weight" into user feedback and when great offers (non-scamy) get banned from facebook and you ask it's because of user feedback and I would bet 99% of that is from dipshit affiliates reporting ads.

It's pretty sad when you run an offer in the US and get reported left and right regardless if it's a legit offer. Then take that same offer and run it outside of the US with the same ad copy and run it forever with out pricks reporting it.

yeah thanks too all the dumb asses that report ads thinking it's going to make them more money.

Thanks. + Rep

Mine got disabled too. It's really pissed me off because they could have just taken the credit off of my account and allowed me to advertise if I deposited funds (which I am interested in doing). Now they have lost a potential advertiser for no reason.

Affiliate are not allowed to use the Visa Credit or you'll get banned (what I was told by a FB employee)
