So I'm going through some tax related stuff and reading the IRS rules related to business travel and I just read this

Cruise Ships




You can deduct up to $2,000 per year of your expenses of attending conventions, seminars, or similar meetings held on cruise ships. All ships that sail are considered cruise ships.





Man somebody put this together. How fucking sweet woudl that be. I guess the only problem is there is limited internetz on out on the ocean but still, everytime it ports there is usually wireless somewhere. Those of you that have been on crusies know what I'm talking about here.
 


Someone would end up getting their ass thrown overboard, or maybe some type of revengeful hijack from some dickrolled Somali link builders.

It sorta did. It used to be called "Affiliate Force" run by a guy called Herby Olschewsky. I went to the last one in 2004 (I think). There was supposed to be one in 2005, but after taking a bunch of deposits from people, Herby took off never to be heard from again.

Shawn Collins used to organize it with Herby, but I believe they had a falling out in 2004. From there, Affiliate Summit was born.

Just to be clear - I was not a partner of his in any way. I helped promote it and was a speaker.

The last Affiliate Force was in 2003, and I formed Affiliate Summit with Missy Ward later that year, because we had lots of ideas and Herby didn't want to hear them.

We had an even in November 2003 in NYC and then the second Affiliate Summit was in June 2004 on a cruise ship from NYC to Halifax, Nova Scotia and back to NYC.

Back then, we had 230 people and just one room for speakers and no space for booths or anything.

The ship fit a couple thousand, but there wasn't any larger space for a big crowd.

And the Internet was very expensive per minute and slow, but I'd hope that's better 5 years later.
