What would you do with Java?

I'm studying Java for 2 terms in my school but I didn't do a decent work or practice with it because I did not need so far. However, now I want to produce something valuable for probably my business with Java without spending too much time. What would you do with Java but not with PHP?

To my knowledge, this is not a good question to ask because there is no proper answer, but I'll ask in case I'm wrong.
 


Yup, I would start creating games or apps for android. It's a big market and a fat ass money making machine :)
 
Websites in JSP.
Android apps with Android SDK.
Web automation apps with HtmlUnit or Watij.

Need I say more? Java has plenty of uses :)
 
Unless your building some sort of services based API, something that requires multi-tasking, or android based right off hand. Java is a great language but it's a boat anchor to develop anything fast in comparison to php or python. IMO two terms of learning Java knowledge is barely scraping the surface with what you can do with the language. Learn all the OO concepts and apply skills to php and python.
