What would you do with these 3 sites?

Not sure where to put this, hence I chose the newbie section

I have a small network of recipe sites, 3 sites getting about 400 unique visitors per month ( aggregate, not each site ), 16000 indexed pages.

No need to say that they barely pay for the domains via adsense.

What would you do with them?

I have tried using them to build links to another food related domain that I bought for testing the linking power of these sites, but it's not ranking as I hoped.

Would you try to sell links?
Would you sell them?

What would you do with these sites?

if they have PR you can probably sell links. You can also use the sitewides for your own other sites. You could also look at your analytics to find out where the organic traffic is coming from and try linking to those pages to bump their rankings and traffic a bit.

Like dchuk said, the links will def. sell if your site has PR. 16,000 indexed pages is pretty hefty number. By itself it may not be enough to completely boost one site in SERPs, but it can certainly help.

What are the domains? Are the sites using a nice custom template? If they're decent sites with decent domains then put them up for sale. I'm in the market for a few dozen sites at the moment if you'd like me to take a look at them.

thanks for the replies

all 3 are PR1
the sites are custom built with no fancy cmss, php+mysql+custom designs ( 2 are actually color variations of the same design ) with a bunch of custom stuff like daily automated featured recipes updated via cron, auto generated pages based on user searched terms etc

if I decide to sell them I'll shoot you a PM sapphirescales ;)

If it were me, I'd work in some cooking / kitchen utensil product offers then work on getting more traffic

Are you building a subscriber base at all?

First up, I would ClickBank affiliate links from same niche, 400 UV month would bring some sales at least. And then I would look for related, high volume keywords and would try to rank for those also, since the domain already has some authority.

I have a form collecting comments on the recipes, but I just wiped 2500 spam comments from the db, nothing good coming from there.
I have amazon recipes/cooking books banners but they're not getting clicks.

I built these sites as they were a quick way to grow the number of indexed pages, but I had and have no intention to spend much time on them.

I'll try to get more pages indexed as I noticed that the way I was building the sitemaps may have sucked so far ( not all the urls were in the sitemaps ).

They are obviously awful sites but some mong will probably pay you well for them. So sell them, you just need to find a way to market 16k pages to some mong so that he pays $1k for them.

recipes => attract women => interested in food => talk about diet foods => sling berries, colon stuff and exercise programs... easy money right there!

I don't know a single woman that's not looking to loose some weight at one moment or another (I know, I know, stop hanging with fatties, right?)
