on behalf of pimping sons of plunder everywhere, i would like to thank the american taxpayer and their representatives for buying into corporate propaganda and blindly supporting dumb as fuck socialization of what's supposed to be a free market.

capitalism as we know it is on its way out, ladies and gents.

Nothing beats the pure American muscle cars. Imports are shitty. They sound like a lawn mower.

This is the most beautiful car made: The classic 68 Shelby GT 500 KR Convertible.

Hey, if they'd made the sorts of cars people wanted, they wouldn't be in this position right now.

How hard would it have been to take some of the classic designs, and stick a retrofitted engine in them that was vastly more efficient? Like European or Japanese efficient?

Hell, Tesla makes a nice looking car that's purely electric, and there's something like a 12 month wait for one!
I can't wait for their IPO.

Yeah, I'd be pretty fucking pissed off if my tax dollars went to paying for a company that sucks at business.

I'm totally against privatization, but I don't believe in government handouts to companies that didn't realize they needed to change their business models drastically 15 years ago.

On the flip side, financial institutions get 700 billion, throw the auto makers a bone will ya?

I get you probably didn't support either, and even though it's not my tax dollars (on the 700 billion anyway - the auto makers want a nice chunk from the Canadian government too, 6 billion total in loans and credit lines) neither did I. But, since they did pass the 700 billion why bitch about 25 billion that will save a few million jobs in the middle of this shit storm?

And if I'm not mistaken the majority of that is going to be in loans.

There's a difference between a bailout and a handout. Unless I'm misunderstanding, this is still a bailout. but yeah it would be nice if our US representatives would...represent.

"Loans" that they will probably never be able to afford to pay back. GM supposedly needs $4 Billion just to make it through December and another $4 Billion early next year. When are they going to have a spare $8 Billion in profit to pay back these "loans"?

GM Janitors start at $52,000/year thanks to the UAW.

+1 for tesla. got 'em picked for market leader once we go EV/fuelcells. cali and hawaii are leading the way w/electric recharging grids.
such a sweet ride too:

these and many other awesome vehicles are the reason why the big 3 need to die. if your numbers are tanking and you won't adapt, you get knocked out of the market. taxpayer subsidized bailouts for private corporations in the name of saving jobs or saving the economy is bullshit.

it's not how it's supposed to work, and we'd get by just fine without any bailout.

Solid Economic Gains - 2003 UAW GM and Delphi Report

Hey if you've got a great idea on how to immediately replace 2.5 mil jobs tied to the auto sector in the US and another 400k in Canada I'm sure Obama and Harper will be glad to listen.
Edit: Just to add to this, where do you think the majority of those people will end up when they lose their jobs? The unemployment line - paid for by??

On a side note, why doesn't anyone raid a fuckin airport like they did in Thailand instead of bitching and complaining if that's what it takes to get what the people want.

Tesla is a beauty!

As someone who has worked in the car biz for a few years now- (yeah I'm a salesman-- so what... I'll bet I can face to face negotiate as well as anyone who ever walked in here-- I eat on on 'I want to think it over'.) The main problem w/ the big three -- aside from letting themselves be hijacked by the unions and beside ignoring the Japanese (BTW I sell for a Japanese import brand ) are these 3 main things ... 1) Arrogance- it is apparent in the way that they have bought up other brands, thinking they can make a profit because of who they are- err- were. 2) Too many makes and options-- Einstein could NOT explain all the features available in even the most popular models from F0rd; forget about some of the lesser models- as a consequence the salespeople look like dopes. 3) Crap re-sale value- when I appraise certain makes of say other manufactures minivans; people need a respirator they can't believe how little those things are worth at a dealers auction.
I'm not an economist so I don't have an answer- but for gods sake at least fire some of these clueless bozo's before u give them the money to piss away!
PS> If anyone wants to buy a car from a dealership PM me and I'll hook u up w/ the best tactics to use.

In about 4 minutes I'm on my way to my buddy's house who is a GM engineer. If it wasn't for this bailout...perhaps there would be no party? Then what would I do?

Try to put yourself in my shoes.
