One word....Froyo!
I don't know what they did to the code, but that shit is crazy fast compare to 2.1. I have the Nexus 1 and I can honestly say that browsing on my phone is damn near as fast as browsing on my lappy (with flash). I think I read somewhere that Froyo sports a 400% speed increase vs 2.1. All I know is that it made a huge difference.
edit: Get the Dolphin HD browser. I just draw a W on my screen when I want to come to the forum. Gestures ftw.
