Around two years ago I was browsing through facebook and in a group's public wall a guy was offering premium rapidshare accounts for everyone who signed up under him for a couple of sites.I signed up to the sites but never got the RS account.I wasn't that mad or angry because I did not know how the guy could probably profit from me signing up to the sites.I wondered why the guy was wasting time doing stupid shit like that.

I got a little curious and visited the guy's site (blogspot blog to be exact) and looked around.Then one thing led to another and I learned that there existed something called affiliate marketing and SEO and that normal people were making money with these.Not big companies like yahoo or google, but normal people having 9-5 jobs.I decided getting into AM and having looked back since (meaning i'm addicted to my computer now, and not that I have become rich beyond my wildest dreams).I wish I get a chance to meet the guy and thank him for scamming me that day:).

I know many of you have interesting stories as well on how you got started into internet marketing so please do share yours.
 


Im still struggling, i was a Phisher, can used to scan ppl everyday, but i decided to get legal money for peace of my mind, now, i came to affiliate marketting coz i saw some eeasy money with my tactics,now that i am into affiliate marketing, im sure, my story could be similar to what you told.Thanx to my affiliate manager at Neverblue, roman andrukh, he showed me WF, now , i have learned the good way to make monies.hehe
 
Good idea for a thread :)

I got my missus up the stick had kids young (20) and ended up vegging in a job in telecoms for 9 years. One day I woke up and decided to do something I enjoyed so I got into PHP & front end development.

Spent the last 5 years doing that. :error:

I think about last year I must have had a pre-mid-life-crisis-crisis, and decided I didn't want to end up a complete fucking chump, so I'm trying to get into Internet marketing. Its frustrating without any capital, so I guess I'll have to SEO it until I make enough capital for PPC. The best I've managed so far is turning a couple of hundred dollars of Facebook Coupons into the equivalent pounds.

Right now I pretty much suck, but I'm on it.

I got started in a similar way that the OP did.

I was on my dad's computer one day in 2005, putting up listing for footbags (yeah I used to make and sell hacky sacks) and my sister came running into the room screaming about how she just saw an auction on ebay that showed her how to get a free ipod from freeipods.com!

Thats how it started for me.

I read Rich Dad Poor Dad about four years ago and figured, fuck it, I can get rich too. A friend and I figured the net was a good place to start getting rich, but didn't know that cheap Indian labor gives you shitty returns if the job is too big.

After losing thousands of $ in credit, a connection made along the way showed me this super flaming gay webmaster forum. Now I get dickrolled daily!
