When friends want to make teh interwebz monies...

This kind of thing never ends well. I used to try to help people, but I've since realized that 99% of the people who ask will never have the persistence or drive to be successful. They either talk about how they "need to get going on that" forever, or they get frustrated and quit after the first small obstacle.

Depending on their expectations and the way they ask, I either politely decline or suggest they buy a book/point them to my list of affiliate marketing bookmarks. If they happen to be related to me, I'll tell them how to set up a simple blog and use affiliate links/text link ads/payu2blog/etc to monetize. If they get past 2-3 posts (only one person I know has), I'll help them out a little more with stuff like SEO advice, an intro to PPC, etc.

As slimy as it would feel to do it, it seems like you could definitely make a healthy income by talking about making money online in some kind of offline lecture series. Then again, most of the people who want to be given all the answers cheap out when you mention anything involving money leaving their hands.

This is when those clickbank links come in handy. Buying an ebook would atleast give your friend a basis of how AM works. Also a good lesson to them never to buy another ebook.

Edit: Get a refund after.

i love this idea

I've had at least a half a dozen friends or acquaintances ask me about what I do and how they can do it so now I have an email message sitting in my draft folder that I copy and paste with an outline of basically how my business works (without revealing any of my sites) and I send them that along with a zip file of a few of the "free" ebooks that explain the big picture. Also, an invitation to ask me questions after they've absorbed all the information I've given them.

That is enough to put everyone off. Not one person has taken me up on the offer and none of them have followed through with any of the info I gave them, not even the person I thought would actually do it and be good at it.

I've thought of doing offline classes at a community center or something maybe once a quarter on a couple of weekends. People will pay to attend classes about making money and I think there are actually more people likely to do that than buy crappy ebooks. They just won't ever do anything about it after the class is over, but a weekend's worth of classes could probably pay for my next vacation.

The reality of it is that you are going to be wasting your time, and time = money. I've completely mapped out how to make a six figure+ income in AM for two of my "friends." Both of them have not done shit with it. I gave them landing pages, keywords, custom tools, all this shit, and they did nothing. It pisses me off to think about it, but oh well. If you want to help, send them to a guide or something, like on uberaffiliate.

Now that you've done all of this legwork, you should write an uber-book about it and sell it for $97 to the next friend that asks you.

Yeah I agree with this 100%. Almost anyone who ask you how to "make money online" is doing it because they are lazy and thinks its easy/takes no skill or ethic.

i hate when i have to explain my friends (and even more my family) how i make money online cause being in the men's health you know you are scamming people...

What did your mom say?

That's what I would want to know..... Did she tell her you make $10K a month and don't even have a job? I mean, how did she describe your work? If she is not a friend of yours directly, then you can't be blamed to bad for her failure.

I think if you really want to teach someone you have to show them. Really you should have them do things for you. Show them what you are doing. Give them a couple Gay-EBOOKS.

The one thing we need to know is this. CAN THEY USE TEH INTERWEBZ. If they cannot I would say it is not for them.

The last time this happened to me it was a guy I was making a website for. He basically said something like "that sounds really easy.. .ladadada". He was basically talking it down and saying if a young kid like me can do it, it should be easy for him (he's like 50). In fact, he started reading more about it and then started giving me information and trying to teach me more about it (as if I didn't already know, he was just trying to sound like he had it all figured out). Turns out he gave it a run and ended up losing like $300 and came back to me and said "this actually seems a little more complicated than I thought". LOL

some people are stupid.

You can forward this to me if you would like :D ry@ha.cr

I had to explain it to my dad once.

I opened Facebook in one tab, and Copeac in the other. This was when Facebook ads where just taking off.

I set up a zip submit campaign, was like "watch this", stuck $20 onto Facebook and refreshed my stats on Copeac as it turned into like $60.

I was like "Yep, that's pretty much it."

He was like "Huh, looks pretty easy."

Haha. Wish it where still that easy.

What happened to people just saying they were drug dealers? :D

It'll be a waste of your time.

Before I get into AM, I had hosting business on ebay. It was like 2 years ago. The idea was simple, $9.95/yr unlimited web hosting, that I setup on my RZ reseller account that I paid $5/m (I had the overselling feature). The people who really used their resources (something like more than 100MB of space), got an email with a stupid excuse, and a refund.

The thing is, all my best friends, got pretty excited when we drank beer, and I made money during me being drunk. Once, I sat with them, and showed them the whole system from A-Z. Guess how many of them did it?

0!!!

And it's guaranteed money, and not as hard as AM.

So, the conclusion is, that if she didn't get into aff marketing by her self, she has 0 chances. Just a waste of time...

So as said above, tell her that your a drug dealer...
