Okay, I'm doing affiliate marketing full time now, and whenever someone asks me what I do, I kinda struggle with how to quickly and clearly explain what it's all about. It usually ends up with them feeling totally confused and thinking that I make porn or something.

So, what do you guys/girls tell people when they ask you what you do for a living?

Anyone come up with any good job titles or explanations? Entrepreneur is always a good one, as well as Affiliate Marketer.. or sometimes I just say I'm in Advertising.. sounds a little bit more "sexy" than Internet Marketing :)

Interested to learn how you all handle this.. thanks people

Here are a couple good ones:
-Web Development (as stated above)
-Independent (Internet) Marketer
-And, of course, Affiliate Marketer as you said. They may not quite understand what affiliate means though...

Well link to one, fucker.

I say that I'm a cigarette lighter repairman.

web consulting

i struggled with the same thing for quite a while.

web consulting is just boring enough that they don't ask any further questions

I love it how after I explain that I am an entrepreneur, explain a few of my latest business ventures then they reply with "yeah, but... what do you do?"

I get that EVERY single time it seams. Its making me anti social, lol

Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

And sorry if this thread is a bit too DP-ish.. I'm kinda realizing now that it might be :anon.sml:

I figured it out a few weeks ago. It's so easy now. I just tell them this:

"I create information-rich websites that help people solve a problem such as losing weight, and use these sites as platforms to sell products for commission."

then they get it.... oh and I leave out the PPC part.

Try one on for size - I've used all of 'em.

I just say I'm a programmer. Even though I am nowadays I just program tools for myself for web marketing. But if I try to explain web marketing it's like going in circles. Most people know what a programmer is so it's easier.
