Where are all the gold investors?

Note: chart is 1yr old as gold hit 1200 today
Oh, real value, not nominal value.

You should have clarified that in your initial statement. Almost no one talks in terms of real value. It's totally valid, but one always has to assume in these conversations that people are speaking nominally.

That said, you're making my argument that you buy on the fall, not on the rise (if you want to invest).

Gold, like forex, should be used as a hedge. Those who use it to speculate will typically lose money. Let's say you live in a country undergoing hyperinflation. Buying some gold or silver off the street may be the best way to hedge it if you don;t have access to other ways to hedge inflation.

All I have to do is make a collection of all CPAUSER's investment advice, do the opposite, and I'll have my fuck you money to buy an island with.

Its not like gold actually does anything. Its just a metal.

A metal used in: Phones, computers, electrical wiring, architecture, satellites, medical treatments, among other things.

But fuck gold right? My paper money will last forever, and it has so many more physical applications...

I think over time while there is so much uncertainty in the markets gold will always be a safe investment. Could be a good time to get into now

Bernanke a couple days ago: "Nobody understands gold prices and I don't pretend to understand them either"

(You can tell it's a topic he doesn't feel very comfortable with lol)

If you're buying gold and silver but you don't have a valid passport, you are probably pushing on a string.

Internationalization seems to be the new sound money.
