Where are you most productive at?

I work best at night after dinner, once the girl has gone to bed, undisturbed until late (or early depending on your point of view) and then I can sleep until whenever.

i'm interested in how you address the security issues of connecting to the cloud over wifi... i might very well be interested in a solution like yours (i'm permanently mobile) but i can't work around the security issue. i have a verizon hotspot so i could in theory connect to the cloud securely, but i assumed (perhaps wrongly) that doing everything over my hotspot would eat so much data that verizon would shut me down.

Unfortunately, security is an issue. But it's an issue I've decided to live with. On that, 3 quick thoughts...

First, I limit what I do when I'm on wifi. For example, I don't enter credit card numbers. I'm not entering extra-sensitive passwords.* And I don't trade state secrets.

Second, as mentioned, I've accepted the security issue. It was part of the risk/reward equation. That is, security is a risk and there's no perfect solution to it. But there are huge advantages (personally) to working in the cloud, and being able to do it on the road. After weighing the pros and cons, I decided to take the plunge.

So far, so good.

Third, the type of work I do on a daily basis makes the risk relatively small. Given that work, and given the above, the answer to the "what's the worst that can happen?" question didn't (and doesn't) bother me too much. The disaster recovery scenario is pretty mild for me. I can recover very quickly.

Of course, this is going to be different for you than it is for me. If you're a spy, wifi usage ain't a great idea. If you're me, it works well.

* I might log into email, but not into a bank account. You get the idea.

Wherever I'm online, whether at home, coffee shop, or car.

It helps if you're goal-driven, can ignore silly distractions (boobs, games, calls, WF, etc.) when it's time to work, and have no problem cutting people off and telling them, "I need to get this stuff done." :)

Wisdom, bitches.

If you don't have the self control to hit your targets and deadlines NO MATTER WHAT, then you're fucked anyways.

Doesn't matter where you work from, it's about the WORK.

Hrmmmm.... best productivity? When you're totally, in-over-your-head, insanely in love. Those times, envrionment didn't matter. Working off an air-card while powering your laptop via the car's cigarette lighter, or working out of a Regis office rental. All the same. You're kicking ass, and taking over the world, and that's that.

Library by far. I get most of my work done there. Working at home for me can be productive, but i need to change it up.
