The banks in Spain are sitting on so much foreclosed property they are practically giving it away and the housing market, along with Spain's economy, hasn't hit rock bottom yet. Houses and apartments are selling for 1/3 or 1/4 of what they were just a few years ago and they continue to drop. There are some absolutely shocking deals to be had here.
Not a bad idea, most of the action is before it even goes on public auction though but theres is plenty of moneypie to be cut up.
I'm in mobile payments by investing in Amazon, Google (wallet), VeriFone, eBay (don't forget they own paypal), and MasterCard. I'm looking for private ways to invest in Obopay as well.
Basically, you want to bet broad at this point, you know only that there is a good chance of mobile payment taking over because of the advantages it offers businesses that they can pass on to their customers (proven in asian and some european countries). Its also likely that size confers advantage because of the nature of the market. You expect one of the big players I mentioned above to really try and own the space, it is obvious that all of them see the big payoff in potentially facilitating half the transactions that go on in the country.
To clinch it, you see a lot of big money being poured into it too, Obopay got a ton from Nokia and other private capital, even Verifone is licensing obopay technology.
Another surefire winner is electronic medical record companies, Obamacare literally mandates their success by forcing all hospitals to turn to EMR.
