Which keyword should I pull the trigger on?

Hey Everybody!

I'm fairly new to the whole IM business and wanted to get started on building my first niche site. I've chosen my niche and bought 2 keyword-rich domain names to test. I already have hosting services from my current website that I plan on adding the new domains to.

Although I've done extensive keyword research and finally feel ready to pull the trigger, I still have a few questions...

My domains are:

a) keyword1keyword2reviews.com

  • Competition: Medium
  • Global Monthly Searches: 40,500
  • Local Monthly Searches: 22,200
  • Approximate CPC: $1.90
  • Average Page Rank on 1st Page: .9
  • "keyword1 keyword2 reviews" page results: 137,000
  • # of Google Advertisers: 6

b) keyword1keyword2subkeyword1reviews.com

(by sub-keyword, I mean a specific subcategory to keyword 1 and 2)

  • Competition: High (but not much more than the keywords above)
  • Global Monthly Searches: 12,100
  • Local Monthly Searches: 6,600
  • Approximate CPC: $2.04
  • Average Page Rank on 1st Page: .8
  • "keyword1 keyword2 sub-keyword reviews" page results: 201,000
  • # of Google Advertisers: 11

My question would be if I should choose one over the other or just test both at the same time? I know option a has lower competition and more monthly searches, but it also yields lower CPC. On the other hand, option b has higher competition and less monthly searches but yields higher CPC.

My gut feeling is to test both, but since they're so similar... I'm not sure if it would make any difference. Any input would be awesome!

Yeah, its the only thing I can think of split testing for now. I guess because with option a, I can do reviews of a broader rage of things whereas in option b, its reviews for only items within the sub category.

I guess your viewpoint is that it will get more searches and I can advertise for a much broader range of things as opposed to a specific category, right?
