White House Must Address Petition to Deport Justin Bieber

And of course the one time we want the government to actually work for the people, they will not. Instead, they'll bomb some brown children that day.

Great use of taxpayer dollars. I actually don't blame the white house for this, I blame the Bieber haters.

Since he didn't actually break any laws, what are they attempting to deport him for?

I thought drag racing and drinking and driving were both against the law?

While most petitions are serious in nature, past petitions also include "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus being made the new National Anthem and the government constructing a Death Star to increase jobs.

With regards to the Death Star, the White House said it would cost $850,000,000,000,000,000 to make and thus, would not be moving forward with the proposition. You know the response to this Bieber deportation petition will be probably just as funny.

I like this. Let's turn this into a catchy title thread:

Does Justin Bieber actually have a green card (permanent residency) or does he have just have a residency visa? It will be difficult to deport him if he has permanent residency.

In Hong Kong it's impossible to be deported if you have permanent residency, but from what I understand in the US it is possible to still be deported as a permanent residency. However Justin Bieber's crimes are not serious enough to warrant deportation, and a non legally binding petition won't change that.

The rule of law might be watered down in the USA, but it still exists.

Just free marketing for him. He's gaining street cred which reinforces his white bad boy image. The fucker is laughing in his mansion.

He wasn't drunk. His blood alcohol level was tested at .014 and .011 which is less than the .02 for underage drinkers and .08 for everyone else. He also wasn't drag racing, as the GPS unit has shown exactly how fast he was going and video surveillance from the area shows he wasn't doing anything wrong at the time. So they say he might now face one misdemeanor charge for resisting arrest without violence

If Justin Bieber has a green card (permanent residence) then he is is no longer subject to immigration controls and he cannot be deported.

For example I have HK permanent residence. I can not be deported regardless of what crimes I commit. I have right of abode in Hong Kong. However if I did not have permanent residence, it would be very easy to get rid of me.

Americans need to stop being ignorant dumbasses and learn what a green card means.

Actually, you are only partly right. If your greencard was given within the last 5 years (in the US) and you committed a crime of 'moral turpitude' or two crimes at any time after obtaining a green card, then you can be deported. There are also plenty of other reasons, even just being a drug addict even if not convicted.

I have no idea of the case and came only to make fun of those who care, but I figured I'd correct that misconception.

I don't follow the media that closely lol. I just ran across this article and thought it was particularly funny.

I haven't lived in the US for a long ass time. I should have known. I'm just glad in HK I'm subject to zero immigration control due to my permanent residency.

Do you like living in HK better than in the US? All else equal (standard of living, income, age, etc)

I haven't been back to the US for 8 years now. So I think you have your answer.

Norway is a wonderful place to live if you're a worker. Hong Kong is a wonderful place to live if you're an entrepreneur and also happen to love East Asia.

Yeah, many countries give residents tons of rights (I believe in Canada you can even vote with a permanent residency), but the US does not. Check this out for an article that will give you some perspective:
