I´am about to buy a vps hosting package for my prosper202 install and i´am thinking about using ssl. But i´am not sure if its a good idea to use ssl for the prosper domain. I´ve heard that it slows down your redirects and users see alerts ("Are you sure you want to leave a secure site") in IE when clicking on affiliate links.

Anyone else uses SSL on their prosper 202 server?

works fine for me... i always go with namecheap.com for the domain registration so you get the whois protection and free ssl cert.

I've only used it for tracking pixels with one program. Everything has worked fine after getting setup

I use it for secure pixels and logging in. Run the redirects unsecure for the very same reasons you noted.

works fine, has for 2 years.

i´am planing to do the same. So you just assigned a ssl cert to your prosper domain (so you can login trough https) and for the redirects you just change the https to http? Is this right? As i haven´t dealed with https before: Wouldn´t the redirects also get secured automatically as the prosper domain is https? Or does it work to do the redirects unsecure by just changing https to http

/push for help

anyone can help me with my question:
Wouldn´t the redirects get secured automatically as the prosper domain is https? Or do i only need to change https to http for the redirects, the landing page pixel or the tracking pixel?

Also, is the SSL Cert of namecheap which comes with a new domain okay or should i get another one as ive seen much more expensive ssl certs?

Right eithet or unless via htaccess you force (or your hosting defaults) to rewriting everything through ssl

If this happens just asj them to fix this to function as you note above

Thanks for bringing that up as I'm trying to switch to https but was concerned with whether the ssl will block users on IE.

I'm a idiot with code so I'm following this guide How To Install Prosper202 On An SSL (HTTPS) Server :MasterlessSamurai.com But what should I do to leave out https on the redirect part of prosper?

uh, nothing, b/c during the setup phase p202 doesn't populate scripts/links w/ https - thus there's no issue.

only during get pixels/postback urls is this an option (via radio button). Select 'secure' and IF you have ssl you can then use the dynamically changing (just adds/removes a "S") SECURE pixel/postback, and of course you can login via httpS://www.yourprosperdomain.com/202-login.php

that's it, really very simple

Since this is a Prosper202 thread, might aswell ask it here...Is anyone seing a difference in stats from prosper & network...Like i see people clicktrhough my lander, but in my network stats there not always showing. Since i started using 202, i've never had such problem, all stats were correct everywhere, but lately, not so much. Even think i'm losing conversions because of this.

What's the problem coming from? Have others experiences something similar? tks.
