Shoemoney, Jon, this guru, that guru..

NOBODY but the guru himself knows how much he REALLY makes, and I'm talking REAL INCOME, not gross revenue, not "best case scenario"..
And no one is entitled to the info if the guru decides not to share it..

Screenshots as proof? are you kidding me? that's the most gullible thing I've ver heard.. Certainly, some of the guru screenshots you see are real, but they don't always tell the whole story, there's so much more to making money than getting a big fat "gross" Adsense check.

Why aren't we seeing any W2's? lol..

Anyhow, it DOES make sense for guys like Jon and Shoe, in my opinion, to publicize some of their earnings for publicity, and other obvious self-serving
reasons, but that's their choice..

If I made a million bucks a year, and started relying on income from selling myself as a Guru (whether by running a forum, a consulting business, a blog, or whatever) I'd want others to be CERTAIN of my success level, erasing ALL DOUBT about my Guru status, and income level.

If I made a million bucks a year doing arbitrage, or something NOT involving creating a following of some type, I'd have NO reason to make my income public, except for to brag, to inflate my ego, or create some type of status for myself.

There are more people bragging about all the money they make on the internet, who make practically nothing, than there are braggards with a bank account to back them up.

I think it's most important to focus on your own personal agenda, goals, desires, and income NEEDS, than it is to try to compare yourself to the unverifiable income levels of these gurus.

(ps) I know there are lots of internet millionaires, and many of them may peruse and participate in forums like WF, but I'll bet you most of them keep their secrets, methods and ideas somewhat close to the vest.

Dave - lol, I'm not looking for a solution, I'm just rambling...

I agree that the VALUE gained from reading ANYONE's material is paramount to everything else. I've learned quite a bit reading stuff written by "newbies in training"..

But I am myself a newbie.. If I was making $500/day or more, and I was looking to sell "how to" info, or create a following, or what have you, I'd want to provide overwhelmingly positive proof of my achievement, if for nothing else but to create credibility.

I'm not calling anyone out, by the way.. hehe

BUT.. just playing devil's advocate here.. SOLELY..

HOW does everyone arrive at the conclusion that our own "uni-bomber" look-alike webmaster is anything but a young butting entreprenuer with $14 in his checking account, and some VBulletin know-how? Maybe I was the last guy to get on the bus, and I missed something?

Why else would some people ask, some even DEMAND screenshots of what some of the bigger guys earn? It's fucking retarded and it's just jealousy. People who are too busy thinking about what others are doing and earning are the same ones who will never do shit.

Dave - if you're referring to me, you're way of big guy.. perhaps it was my poorly worded post?

I am specifically asking about the gurus who say "lookie, lookie what I made", and I'm not demanding anything.. My guess is that Shoe, Jon and some of the other well knowns around this board and others, are making a great living online, and that they're very talented at what they do. That's why I'm here, douche!

The basis of your jealousy remark:

"Why else would some people ask......"

What, are you 11 years old? Don't be so quick to assume things, people could ask these questions for a myriad of reasons..

Why are you even arguing with me? Where do I state I was talking to you? You made a post regarding a subject and I did the same.

brian, I make $10,000 a day net profit, I will be more than happy to teach you my ninja secrets!

could not resist!

Because some of these "bigger guys" create blogs/forums setting themselves up as the authority for whatever they do, when they really don't know anything. Staining other people's minds with misinformation is not something a true "Guru" would do.

"If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." - Matthew 15:14

This isn't religion. If I read of a half-reasonable technique regarding any form of affiliate marketing, I usually give it a shot with a small amount of money. If there are actually people who read some "advice" online and run out and invest $15,000 they can't afford to lose... well..

This isn't religion? Just because the quote is pulled from a religious text doesn't mean its about religion - its talking of ignorance.

If you need need the word blind defined aswell let me know.

You mean the misinformed would take the advice of a Guru as if it were religion? Yeah, thats what I thought.

Apparently it is you who needs everything to be defined.

Yes. Please define the dumb shit you just said cause that didn't make any sense.

Not that my opinion matters much but frankly i agree with all of you on this one. There are three ways to making money online. Making money from users, from advertisers, and from other people trying to make a living online. Waving a large check or earnings screenshot in front of newbies doesn't help them a damn bit in my opinion. Once you go down the road of publically announcing your stats it helps no one and just ends up throwing you into a big competition that leads to lieing. From that time on you have to keep fudging your numbers higher and higher so people will respect you more than the next guy who just fudged his numbers. Beyond that you've just become nothing more than a hand shaker. A worthless fuckin PR person and a brandable name. From that point the temptation is just too great to start grabbing money. Advertisers call you with bigger offers, people offer to pay you to consult. People want to do all the work on a project and give you half the profits just to have you involved. Companies start spiffing you to talk about their products and before you know it your doing worthless chats on radio programs and seminars about the god damn Google "I'm feeling lucky" button while everyone listens and kisses your ass about how helpful your show was. If anyone questions you about being legit you just claim you don't want to share your secrets and let everyone else yell at them for daring to question you. I do everything i can to avoid ppl like that. IMO they're nothing more than a fuckin parasite on the industry.

Personally i'd rather give people somethign tangible and useful that they can think about and use to improve their own earnings. Posting checks and stats accomplishes nothing except resentment and wearyness from people wondering how your trying to make a buck off them.
