Why I wanted those image scripts

He is - THE CACTUS!
So me and a mate are nerds. Big ol' stereotypical nerds... Well, not entirely, I bathe daily and use Lynx.

Anyway, we enjoy the nerding up that happens at conventions. Part of that enjoyment are chicks that are not only into the same things we're into, that are hard to find IRL, but also happen to be amazingly exhibitionist in their behaviour, to the point of getting dressed in some of the skimpiest, sleaziest outfits to come out of comic books.

This is a habit known as "Cosplay".

And it is with much joy we present to you Cosplay Cuties.

Depending on how puritanical your work place is, this could be construed as NSFW, although technically they are all clothed.

I've also got some of the URLs around it in case we manage to run across some REALLY NSFW content that we probably shouldn't put up on there.
Knowing the shit that a lot of these chicks get up to gives a whole new meaning to Final Fantasy X.

lol ok so a post where I'm not a total jackass for once.

Great idea horrible delivery in terms of picking out your theme for coppermine, or at least you should have spent a little cash and had it templated differently.

If nothing else you don't want it to look like yet another image spam site imo, especially because I love the idea.

There is a Kubrick style that is of course easily modifiable if you've ever messed around with the WP version:
Example Usage:
Britney-Gallery.de - Home

Turned out pretty good with just a little bit of editing.
Replace the star graphics and icons etc. with anything from any of these sets:
Freebies | Smashing Magazine

I see you just picked out a theme already available that had sort of an anime feel to it. I just personally think this could do really well for you if you can get good traffic.

I personally tend to look and then completely forget about IMG type stuff on digg and reddit if it looks like whoever made the site didn't put any work into how it looks.

I'd also name the photo files with the actual character, and organize the albums by character and manga/game/anime product. Then see if you can't implement a product feed query for each folder/pic based on the page topic then displaying anime geek gear for sale that will get you affil commisions along with of course some hentai/anime site affil links if you wanted to. I like kubrick for this because it will give you enough space to do this easily without making everything look so cluttered since it's such a sparse and open white space style theme.

Hit up a bunch of the CosPlay forums and see if you can't "make friends" with some of the hot girls on there. Most cosplayers also tend to be camwhores so you could actually get some pretty good original content for the site too.

Good luck with it man.

Thanks for the input there.

For the most part, I'm handling the marketing and revenue generation, he's handling the content and scripts. Obviously there's a bit of cross over, but we try not to stand on each others toes. I'll copy and paste your feed back to him.
See if he gets off his arse and does something with it :D

Oh, and after some looking around on the Coppermine theme gallery, there's a shit load right on the front page that would have suited this better... Slacker and slacker!

So what solution did you end up going with for the image scripts?

I'm birdogging your old thread but its not clear what you finally went with.

I concur, great idea but somewhat weak execution. The theme and the way the site functions is just clunky and looks dated.

I do loves me some skanky emo nerd girls in costume though (and there's some smoking hot cuties in there) so I signed up and 10 minutes later I've not received my email confirmation to activate my account.

I assume you have in place a mechanism for user submitted content? Other than that lolwut covered off a few good points... more work and this could be a big hit!

Yeah, Coppermine it was.

I forwarded lolwut's post, and to my surprise, this morning, there was a new theme. So I guess he's not so uber lazy. Still, not Kubrick. Waiting on an email as to why he went with this other one. And I'll shoot off another one now asking what the deal with the email is.

The user upload provision is there once you're a registered user. Or at least was when I was doing the test account crap.

Still loving the way that he uses MY name as the admin "Just in case someone decides to sue LOL"... charming. I think I'll make an account under his name, see how funny hethinks that is.

Harvey, you need names on the site. For both user experience and SEO. Categories would be perfect, but a simple naming of pics/filenames would be enough. I have a similar niche, and the weird/uncommon names bring in a ton of the right type of traffic. Anime names are usually absolute, you will not find something else named Sakura or Deidara. Also, as a user, I saw lots of babes and I don't know what they are cosplaying.

As a monetization avenue, you can link from each page on Amazon. They have clothes for cosplaying. I am sure about Naruto, so I am guessing there are more.

PS. I'll use your name too. You know, in case someone decides to sue...

Glowleaf: Ok, well, he's working on naming stuff now, apparently. I see a few names on there, and some tags to the series they come from.
And yeah, I also suggested the whole "Hey, drop a deeplink to one of our cosplay affiliates in the description" and he's all "nah man, too fucking obvious"... which was kind of the point, but hey, if he doesn't get it, his problem... I'll try to get some sort of plugin that'll make a popunder for costume affiliates when people click the images for the enlarged view.

Fatbat: Shit. I thought I'd fixed the email thing. I'll look into it. Could be that that the hosting doesn't do Sendmail.
