Why The Future Is Better Than You Think

Just a minute into the video... "The human lifespan has more than doubled in the last hundred years". Nope. And at this point I stopped watching.
Not only does this not surprise me, I am grinning ear to ear.

Look at my first post. The fundamental nature of man. I choose 1900 to 2000 because most people know a least some of what happened here.

It wouldnt matter what time you went back to, the nature of man has stayed the same.

So when you say the world is getting better.. the high tech is getting more powerful yes.

In fact i think one day a smartphone will be so powerful, that it would have more computer power then all the computers on the face of the earth today. Think Biochips.

But in the world we live in, the nature of man is the same.. the weapons getting more and more powerful.. one day using them in large scale...

We would at some point have the ability to kill everyone and everything on the face of the globe.. some say we have that now..

However.. in a world war.. the world could turn out much more wmd type weapons in numbers we cant even think of...

p.s. Nice work on the 114 positive feedback at 100%.

God damn... Will you just answer his fucking question???

I do think it is funny that after watching the video, so many people miss the point and go back to talking about fear.

Folks taking self-driving cars for granted, worried instead about military technologies they know absolutely nothing about.

I appreciate your optimism, but how can you deny the possibility that this tech simply will be suppressed and misused in the US?

I agree with lukep in that the BRIC countries have far more to look forward to than those of us in merica.

Serious question: Is your optimism aimed towards all countries of the world evenly? Pretty sure little african kids could give a fuck less about the already amazing technological advances made in the last 20-30 years.

Apparently you didn't watch the video.

Move.

Yeah, clean water, education and food doesn't affect them at all.

Is there ever a time in history where the violent and dominant nature of man wasn't ever present?
I'm dominant, but I don't do it with violence.

I assume you believe we will evolve beyond this? Not saying this isn't possible, just unlikely.
*sigh*

btw, your avatar is one of the most graphically bad ass images i've ever seen. I need it on a t-shirt??? Been meaning to pm you about it for a few weeks.

ok, back to arguing.

^^ Way to completely avoid logical debate.
What logical debate? You're asserting unsubstantiated opinions.

Last time this happened, Yucky and I crushed you.
Don't confuse being a loud idiot with being right. Yuckystuff found that out the hard way.

It is pretty badass.

If i were to go back in time.. i think i might like to go back and see the conception
of matt cutts.

Or before BMR was de-indexed. A day without BMR is like a day without sunshine...
hard to go on...... but i will find a way....

More serious... if you were to go back during ww2.. some places would be ok.. others not so much.. like under bomber waves... or under a stalin organ attack.

If there is such a thing as "human nature" and violence is a part of it, then why are there
nonviolent communities such as the semai (also on wikipedia)?

Or why is it that income inequality is directly proportional to a country's murder rate:

It's because violent behavior is learned and not inherited.
