WickedFire lose weight and get ripped thread (2015 edition)

In the Marine Corps, weighed 190lbs, 10% bmi, ran 3 miles in 18 minutes, 20 pullups no problem. Got out in January 2013, and now I'm 210lbs, probably upwards of 25% bmi, and haven't hit the gym or the pavement since.

I'm in. Will post updates. If you don't have your health, what do you have?

Edit: Everyone has their own way of doing shit. Some people follow "bro science", other people follow fad diets, and other people just follow tried and true what works for them. I'll share what works for me while I'm doing it, but I won't "should" all over any of you. If you're looking for legitimate health and fitness advice, make sure WickedFire isn't the source of you're info.

Yeah, although a large proportion of the posts in this thread are also great for a laugh.

It makes me want to launch my own diet product. If people on WF can be convinced of some of these views, imagine what holds true for the majority of the population.

Weight in Friday as I may dub it. Started at 227.8 lbs on 2-23-15 to 225.2 lbs on 3-6-15 now to 223.0 lbs today.

A bit steeper than I would probably like, which is why I started tracking cals this week to see if I can tighten and slow to 1-1.5lbs.

Have set calorie goals to 2500 daily, and will see how that goes. I've been eating that the last 2 days and have felt better and had a great day in the gym today. I was probably too low carb before, and now aiming for a split of about 40% carbs 35% (at least .9 g / lb body weight) protein and 25% fat for total cals.

2500 cals seem like quite a lot. I usually aim for 2000 when I want to lose weight.

Weighed in at around 97kg today. Have been walking at least 6km a day regardless of if I work out or not.

Next Friday would like to be below or at 96kg.

I used a few different calculators and came up with ranges of like 2300 cals to 2700 cals. So I figured to split the difference. It may be a little high, but we'll see here over the next week or two. It's really just to be used as a starting point and I'll adjust with the results. #science

I'm in.

Currently at 185lbs with about 30% body fat at 5'8".
Been lifting since start of year, but really slacked in February.
Doing StrongLifts 5x5 which has been incredible thus far.

Goal: Get down to 165lbs at 15% body fat in 3 months.

Don't really plan on losing any weight. My only real goal is to hit a 450 raw wilks (powerlifting). I should be good to go barring any major injuries. It's been overdue for quite some time now.

The only really shitty part is that I can't im grind (read sleep less than 7.5-8 hours) or I'll have performance issues in the gym. My mental productivity slips, but I can still do tasks that don't require a lot of effort or creativity. My time management and organizational skills have had to be worked on a lot in order to compensate now that I've been focused more on business/professional goals in addition to exercising. Fortunately there's no shortage of good advice on the subject, so it's been a relatively easy change to make thus far.

On that front, I've found waking up earlier and nixing a few bad habits really helped a ton. I started tracking pomodoros, and I went from 7-10/day to 17-20/day by fixing a few bad habits.

I see people consistently sleeping 6.5 hours or less and I honestly don't know how they function mentally at a high level (physically, we all know it's not happening). I can work, but I'm nowhere near as crisp as I am sleeping another 1-1.5 hours.

Sleeping as a skill/something to improve on has been something I have kind of focused on in the past, and it seems to have increased my wellbeing and productivity throughout the day, as well as my performance in the gym. If you're having trouble with your diet/exercise/mental goals, I would look in the bedroom for a relatively quick fix.

Also, working on your mobility in the mornings/pre-workout, and taking breaks to just get up and walk around will help a lot in the long run. Sitting for 12+ hours a day is really shitty on your body, especially once you throw in poor sleeping habits, an awful diet, and little to no exercising.

Why not?

Weight: 265.3

Goal: To turn my red shirts into tents.

Don't really get power lifting, been working out off and on most of my adult life

power lifting just looks like a path to some sort of joint or back injury that won't ever heal

When I did it, it was just because I thought it was bad ass. You also get a lot of noob gains out of it in both size and strength. Like if you want to bulk as fast as you can out of the gate, it's a good route because it'll wreck your shit and prefect for eating a ton on.

But yeah, you can get hurt doing that kind of stuff if you do it wrong which is why I would say get a trainer or coach with some experience in it when you start so you can lock down your form. Also, no smith machine squats.

210.3 lbs

95.4kgs for people using sane measurements

1.8m ~6feet

You must take shitty preworkout supplements then.

I mean I guess. I took Jacked. I took NO explode. I took Muscle Pharm assault, all why they where top tier shit. The problem is, eventually you adjust and just don't care. You obviously don't lift so don't talk shit about things you don't know 2 fucks about.

Something similar is true for me too. When everything else is more or less good - sleep, diet, exercise, sex, attitude, etc. - and I'm not training hard I can go at 100+% on ~6 hours a night plus one 30 minute power nap more or less indefinitely. The second I start regular intensive exercise with gains and improvements as goals, especially lifting, my body refuses to go without 7-8 hours a night. Frustrating.

It is totally possible for some people to maintain a holistically healthy lifestyle on six hours of sleep a night. For me it just takes massive discipline. And not sitting in a chair staring at a computer screen fourteen of the eighteen hours that I'm awake every day.

Pre or Post-Lawsuit Jack3d?

I suggest a cutoff in 3 months, 15th June 2015 for the 'competition', so that we can get some motivation to really make something.

I propose the one who percentage wise has lost the most weight, will be crowned 'WickedFire Biggest Loser' and I'm sure someone here can make a cool badge.

What would be even more awesome is if all took before and after pictures and the winner could use them all for a weight loss ad campaign.

Weightloss still proceding, won't weigh myself until next friday, walking 5km a day and will add lifting this week.
