I'm kind of wondering if it isn't somehow our own fault now. I was watching crime tv last night and they were doing an expose on pirating and it kind of touched me how so many of the lowe-paid people on the set suffer because of digital theft -- stunt people for instance often get paid based on royalties, which was surprising to me -- would have guessed they were more of a flat rate kind of deal.
But maybe the billions lost are translating into studios banking on proven formulas, like josearmando was saying.
And remakes aren't all bad. I mainly put up this thread because this is a record shattering year for remakes, and there's still lots of time left before it's over!
