Windows 8 - Even a 12-year old can't do it! LOL

You mean your motherboard manufacturer to do their job? It's not up to Microsoft to make sure every hardware manufacturer has up to date drivers for the millions of different PC components that have been released in the last 20 years. Did you run the updater app? It should have told you if there were incompatibilities. Try installing the Win7 audio and LAN drivers for your mobo. They will probably work just fine. If there aren't any Win 7 drivers for your mobo then it is probably ancient and isn't upgradeable.

Win7 drivers = not compatible. Some of the at least. Well, only the audio. but it's a huge fucking deal. That's what's wrong with the fucking PC. Millions of dfiferent things that *should* work together. never ever getting again a fucking pc.

Nice idea about the new windows, but again it's half way done. The tablet experience is plain awful. Haven't touched a phone yet. The PC experience hasn't changed that much, since most of the users will not use the start menu for a whole lot. It's just for the tablets/phones.

Although I really wanted to unify all my software and services with microsoft with office365, skydrive, outlook, PC, tablet and a phone and eventually other business solutions, they just plain suck at execution. They are god awful. It's very cool on paper, but in the real world they suck.

Holy, someone is a little bit angry. How old is your motherboard? What manufacturer and model number?

God what a retarded fucknut that faggot is.
"Go to Facebook" -> goes to Google and enters facebook.com.

That should really be a testament to Google's ability to make people believe that they are the ultimate gateway to the internet.

it's asus p5pl2, which is a very old motherboard. When I ran the test it said everything is fine.

I was angry(definitely not at you, of course), because I really needed that machine with sound on the minute I finished the installation. I went back to 7 and solved my problem, but M$ dissapointed me again, although I really liked what they did at first glance. Having played a bit with what they did changed my mind though.

Everyone is free to use what they like and I don't wanna tell people what they should do, just shared my experience.

OK, with all due respect, that motherboard came out September 2005. It's over 7 years old. It doesn't even have official Win 7 drivers released for it, let alone Win 8 drivers. I'm surprised the MS update tool didn't alert you to this fact, but it's a bit naive to think that such old hardware would be upgradeable to the latest OS's.

For comparison sake, Apple's Mountain Lion release of OSX killed off support for models made as recently as 2009!

Yeah, but, they won't tell me that I can use their new OS, when I can't, which happened with windows8. That's the main problem. Microsoft has no control over the hardware their software runs on. Which causes issues. A lot of them, not only in this situation.

Anyway, I was mad, because their update thingy told me "you have no probs, man". Anyway.... my parents are left with windows7, and I am left with 2 hours of my life I will never get back.

Seriously, who complains about a 7 year old motherboard not being fully compatible with the latest version of an OS? In the Apple world, the latest updates wouldn't even install on a 7 year old computer.

Someone who's been told everything is going to be OK. That's who.

And just now...

"An unexpected error has caused Civilization 5 to close unexpectedly."

w... wa.... wa..... WAT?

It's called progress. Why change anything "that works"? Windows XP "works". A 97 Ford Taurus "works". A Sony Walkman playing cassette tapes "works". A VHS video recorder "works". Yet all of these things have been replaced by newer, faster, and better designed products. It's typical that some people are afraid of change. Change is bad. Change takes people out of their comfort zone. But eventually they come around and embrace the change, even if it means all their friends and family have to be the ones that take the first step to show them that the change is safe.

And by the time the guinea pigging stops and the bugs are finally fixed, it's now obsolete. Yay progress!

Change for the sake of change is not good. Lack of quality control in consumer technology ≠ progress.

windows 8 sucks the big one. While it looks very pretty there is no option to go back to the windows 7 styled interface out of the box. Cannot imagine professional offices changing to windows 8. productivity will drop even further.

actually, the multitasking is much better IMO. I like the mouse shortcuts.

This is just moronic. It's not that different. The start menu happens to be laid out differently. OMG!

I agree with Fatbat... it is not that different. The start menu has a new layout, but the desktop, task bar, and system tray are all still the same. I don't see how that will drop productivity.

This is my computer with Windows 8...
