Windows 8 was released and nobody on here gave a fuck

There must be some provision to force (legacy) drivers in Win8. Is there? Would be nice to build a 100% Win8 compatible computer and toss away a bunch of perfectly good peripherals. However some people might opt differently. For example, one could very likely build a machine with unassuming, non-certified components that could produce a benchmark that would make you cry. Also, the Hackintosher's are forced to use components that may not necessarily be certified for Win8, however work quite well when forced in OSX and Win7 (dual boot).

I installed Windows 8 today and my house burned to the ground. After the fire squad left, I installed OSX on the ashes of the forsaken PC and now Im running Hackintosh and its utterly unbelievable, I even grew mustache while doing it, so it fits perfectly with my flannel body paint and turquoise leggings.

And the interface is so clean, so 2.0, hell 3.0, its like computing the future.

LOL, there's still shit out there that don't have Win7 compatible drivers. How's that working out for you?

I custom built my current desktop almost 2 years ago and Windows 8 installed every driver automatically.

I will try it on a couple old laptops today and see what happens.

I heard that's what caused the big fire last night in NYC.

Of course there is. I'm sure I could have installed it on my old box without any problems. I'm just guessing, but much like with Win7, if there wasn't a specific driver you could usually get away with one from Vista. I doubt that any of the unassuming components for building the kind of system that you speak of aren't going to work under Windows 8. It just doesn't work like that these days. All those ubergeek manufacturers want to support the latest and greatest.

Plus, before you even purchase and upgrade the OS, there's a little app to download that informs you of any incompatibilities. For example, in my case Magic Disc ISO mounter doesn't work with Win 8 and was reported by the tool. 3 or 4 other things had to be reinstalled from scratch. No biggy.

Good to know, and glad it went smooth for you. Stubborn as I am, I will keep squeezing blood out of my Win7 setup at least until SP2 of Win8 rolls around as I am sure there will be a few oh shitters between now and then.

I just bought the Full OEM version as upgrades in my experience don't go as well as they should, but looking forward to installing Win 8 on a new SSD.

Kept seeing that metro navigation with huge tabs, annoyed the hell out of me. Looked like an OS for a phone. Can't see a reason to switch at present, Win7 works fine.

Upgraded to Windows 8 Pro 3 days ago, no driver issue, works seamlessly and fucking love it so far.

Really? The only thing I've come across so far since upgrading to Vista and then Win7 that didn't work was an access point from 1995. Everything else has been much easier (case in point, setting up a home print server, XP: 30 minutes. Vista: 2 minutes.)

Exactly, no plans to upgrade yet to Windows 8.

In my opinion: Windows 8 is a mistake.....

True, ture, one guy sad that you can play XBOX games on windows 8, is it true ?

You can already play almost every xbox game as long as there's a PC port. Since it's easy to compile to both x86 and xbox, most xbox games have a PC counterpart available on Steam.

If you plug an Xbox controller into your PC, most of these games will recognize it and the experience will be exactly like on a console except with better graphics.

Windows 8 DOES include something called xbox live, but I am doubting that this will let you play games that are xbox binaries since the xbox 360 does not use x86 architecture.

I don't understand all that hate.
no kidding but 90% is spent on facebook, and I'm sure windows 8 can handle that.
they should make a FacebookPad by the way.

Personally I don't use facebook that much, but still the majority of my work is done in the browser, so who cares about the OS?
