Windows Holographic

Well let's all just be happy it's not fucking Apple for fucks sake.

It was a joke that I didn't make properly, apologies for the confusion.

I'm glad it's not Apple or Google bringing this to market.

I love that it's Microsoft (check my sig) :)

Also, that microsoft holo doesn't impress. The uses for it are pedestrian. Holographic tech could be used for so many other awesome things like projecting heart rate, outlines and vital signs during operations, projecting a design for a skyscraper, live stats over each players head during live sport, getting a name real time for a tropical fish while you're diving etc.

Microsoft already talked about using it for everything you mentioned in their video (the long one).

All I want from the HoloLens is the ability to project a massive screen in front of me so I can have multiple monitors.

So it's just acting as another monitor but doesn't process anything (CPU & GPU) besides what was need for the holo display.

I'm going to buy one, but I know that first gen will be a bit clunky and will have issues.

Hopefully Microsoft decides not to turn it into the Surface RT and lock it down.

This.

If they get the resolution to a usable level, this would be my dream.

Alas, I think we'll have to wait a few more years.

Wow, looks impressive and remarkably forward thinking for a company I think of as losing touch with the leading edge of modern tech. Microsoft's record for missing the mark is not exactly encouraging, so let's wait and see.

Windows 10 has to be stable firstly. And Windows fans have always said stability/issues with Windows is because of the variance in the devices it goes on, not the OS itself.

Well seeing as Windows 10 is supposedly the same across all computers, phones and tablets, that's a fuck load more places for it to be stable. Good luck bros.

This is the sole reason I want an Oculus Rift or one of these as well. I have been hesitating planning upgrades partially for this reason. Monitors take up a lot of space. Headset + laptop would be sick.

Mate, Windows has been perfectly stable since 7. Get with the times.

We're all going to be living in Minority Report or Iron Man for that matter.

I've got the rift 1 and 2 dev kits (develop with them at work) and got to go to facebook a month ago to test drive their internal 4k resolution rift prototype.

The rift does have a usb port on it so you can stick a webcam on it to get a video background so you can see where you're going, but it's still limited by the cabling. Or you can stick a leap motion on it to get a depth sensor that accurately tracks your hands.

But imo the rift and the holographic lens will be for different purposes. The rift is more immersive for gaming, holo lens will be more for everyday pc use/monitor replacement. You can't wear the rift for 8 hours straight as it currently is, you'd murder yourself.

Cant wait to setup a site so guys can pay me to use 3D Skype to have cyber sex with girls from MFC.

Can get your content here: Renderotica - home

I bought some 3d strip clubs off stock sites to make an oculus demo, just haven't got around to it.

I made an augmented reality demo (2 years ago) where you take a picture of something which becomes the target that's "tracked" in the video feed on a mobile device and dancing naked girls pop up:

Stable over here. Even with 8.1.

Depends what stable means. I'm using Windows 8.1 too. Stable, sure, didn't get any random bluescreen yet. My heart starting to race when I try to install updates or a new driver? Definitely. Stupid errors of "can't delete this file because it's in use by another program"? Fuck yes and more similar ones. Most fixes online were made by fucking with permissions. Somehow Windows 8.1 has a hard time to differentiate your account from an administrator account and my computer has only one account. Fuck this.

I would say it's like fishing with dynamite, but the bites have been nibbles. I'm now bored of attempting to troll Windows fundamentalists.

Yer sorry, we're all to busy jerking off over HoloLens.

Try trolling Apple fanboys, they always seem willing to defend Apple to the death.
