Back in the day when I used to drink, I liked Bordeaux but my favorite was a 5+yr old (really dry) Zinfandel. There's a badass Pinot Noir from Panther Creek (Oregon), but depending on what state you're in, it might be hard to come by.
I love wine, mainly because it's cheap and it's good with food -- shit, now I have to stock up on wine tommorow.
I just stick with the $10 bottle red wine, nothing fancy.
One time I went to the wine store and bought this wine bottle that had sexy women's legs on the label. When I drank it fuckin' wine taste like ass. WTF.
I'm a big fan of white wine.. no real favorite yet, i get something new every time until i find something i really like. Some weekends (like this one past) when you drink a lot of beer on friday, you want something easy on saturday.
Partial to Napa/Sonoma and Santa Ynez given a native Californian but drink a lot of Malborough Sauv Blancs in the summer and have recently gotten really into Ports after a recent visit to Portugal.
Old vine zins, (cline ancient vines zin is a steal at Costco if you have one and they carry it), Syrah and Cabs are basically the red staples. Will drink GOOD Pinots but not a fan of the lower end crap that's come up w/ the Pinot boom post-sideways over the last few years. Merlot gives me headaches.
