i did 5x5 for a long time and have found this produces faster results. and no, 9 sets of 3 reps does not take a long time.There's a similar more "proven" method which is called 5x5 workout, not saying this doesn't work, but that's a lot of time for one workout you know.

you might cut fat and increase the amount of blood flow to your muscle giving the appearance of building muscle as a beginner. But building muscle tissue with a calorie deficit (which is required to lose fat) is physiologically impossible.
