How would something like this convert sales? It would just leave the visitor so pissed off he would vow never to return to your website again.

Am I missing an important concept?

I'm guessing it would be most useful for adware and malware.

Get creative.

How about this:

Make up a name of a fake virus - something that has 0 search volume on google. Then set up a site with a scrubber designed for your new fake virus. When the user lands on the page it can pop up a fake desktop or just a window saying how their computer has been taken over by the xyz virus - hahaha. They'll go search for the virus find your website, and be willing to install whatever you give them.

Okay that may be a little roundabout, but you get the idea.

Seriously though, pretty clever idea. I've seen the fake virus scan ads, but you're taking it to a new level :lol:
 
The fake virus scan idea, not so good... a few years ago the FTC took several companies to court for doing that..
