The Iowa Caucus is noteworthy for the amount of media attention they receive during U.S. presidential election years. Since 1972,[2] the Iowa caucuses have been the first major electoral event of the nominating process for President of the United States. Although only about 1% of the nation's delegates are chosen by the Iowa State Convention (25 Republican delegates in 2012, assigned proportionately), the Iowa caucuses have served as an early indication of which candidates for president might win the nomination of their political party at that party's national convention, and which ones could drop out owing to lack of support.

It's one of the first states to vote (alongside New Hampshire, South Carolina). It's almost as if which candidate struck first blood.
To put this in perspective, Mike Huckabee won Iowa GOP in 2008 and Rick Santorum won in 2012.
 
I seriously like Trump, wasn't always the case. Voting for him is one part 'fuck you' and one part 'baba booey'.
 
What a shock. Trump got trumped in Iowa. Didn't see that one coming from a mile away.

If Trump can't win New Hampshire, then Trumpkins like Rusvik will have to accept the reality that their man will not got the GOP nomination.

Congrats to this libby (he presents himself as a conservative lol), his prays of Trump not winning Iowa turned positive for him.
 
Long story short, it's where - for the most part - uneducated (and primarily senior) voters vote for their party's candidate.

I recently moved from CO to IA (temporarily, thankfully) - and was caught off guard by how heavily religion plays a roll in individual voting out here; particularly with topics not concerning themselves but instead are rather attempting to force their beliefs on others. E.g. mostly against pro-choise and mostly against same-sex marriage.

Also, as I'm bootstrapping an idea and living low-cost, I live in a white trash Apartment complex in near Cedar Rapids, IA. Neighbors are obnoxious, haughty, and the true definition of "white trash."

Also, the number of under-educated or downright misinformed se dnior citizens participating in the caucus (after spending the entire last week s glued to FOX News channel 24/7) didn't help results. TV brainwashing, especially in older subjects, can be a powerful tool.
