WTF is with all this "Bullying" hype lately?

When I was in grade school we used to beat on each other all the time. It was a different era.

We played in the school yard on monkey bars and shit right over the blacktop. Dodge ball was really killball.

I played full equipment tackle when I was 10 -- we would play on the frozen rock hard ground in winter. Broke my finger and knuckle during practice when I was 12, holding the ball for the place kicker. And I still played offense and defense that day in the game -- I can still remember the pain. But we won that game.

We rode in the cars without seatbelts. We played Lawn Jarts (the ones with with sharp steel tips) at barbecues.

Bike riding was worse than any fuckin NASCAR short track event. Ok, that was my idea -- good times.

We all carried wrist rockets around. And in my neighborhood we throw those fuckin pointy ass horse chestnuts at each other.

Still and all there was no internet. I mean if done right you could drive a nigga crazy with online shit.

Is this another of those american problems ?? Never heard of any school bullying over this end of the world...
BTW, the guns supporters should lobby to make guns legal for the kids. that will solve these bullying issue..

I'm slightly older than most of you guys here and I was in elementary school in the mid 1980's. Back then you didn't have to worry about kids bringing guns to school and a fist fight was just that. You could get into a squabble at recess and the worst that happened is you got smacked around and maybe sent to the principals office. You had to do something really bad to get suspended.

However I went to High School from 89-93, in the middle of the Bloods/Crips gang war era and my school was full of gang bangers. Many of whom were rumored to be packing heat on campus. You seriously didn't want to bump into the wrong guy or you would get your ass nearly beat to death by about 20 bad mother fuckers. I saw it happen on a few occasions.

So I guess if the bullying goes to that kind of extreme, where a student is afraid for their life, then they may not have too many choices. In this case, it may be a bit on the pussyish side, but getting an adult involved is probably the best thing to do. But allowing yourself to be ridiculed and intimidated to the point where you decide to commit suicide is just plain ass stupid.

Nobody has hit on the impact the internet has made on kids live these days.

The bullying follows these kids home a lot of times now with facebook and every other thing they may do on the internet. Text messages, etc.

It's a different world than it was when I went to school which wasnt all that long ago.

I blame the "everyone is a winner" mentality. When I was young I was taught early on that nobody will give you anything and everyone will try to take what you have. I was always a quiet one in school I kept to myself and had my small group of friends, but I was also taught how to fight for what is mine. A school thug decided that he would try to take my cash I had for lunch one day as I was paying for it. He snuck up behind me and tried to snatch it as I as handing it to the cashier. I managed to grab his arm as he attempted to grab my money. I also managed to punch him in the throat as he continued to wrestle for my money. I got a juvenile record, he got a hospital stay. We both graduated with honors.

I blame parents for not teaching kids how to fight for right and wrong. I blame society for telling kids it's wrong to fight for what you believe in.

efeezy you need to show them who is the real Man :D
as the topic : man you can nothing about it, the generation is changing. New values, new heroes. Gonna rise my kids in calm places...

From your username, I can make out you're an Indian. You're obviously being ignorant about the issue. It's not one of those so-called "American problems" - In India, it's called Ragging - Ragging - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

About 8 years ago, my neighbor had a relative visiting them from the country-side - a 20 something rural kid moving to the city to complete his education.

The kid was very studious, but lacked the balls to stand up. He stayed at my neighbors till his admission process was finalized & we became good friends. And then moved to a Hostel.

About 20 days at the college and the guy returned. A drastic change all over him. He'd stay in his room all day, barely eat and I swear to god I saw him crying on one or two occasions. When questioned, he told stories similar to the stuff that you guys mentioned. Locker room bullying, Gym bullying, Classroom bullying and even hostel & canteen bullying. At one point, when he tried to revolt, the seniors got together and he was paraded semi naked in the hostel, that's when he lost it and escaped the same night.

My neighbor, his aunt, took him back to the college & tried talking to the principal and the teachers, but the only response she got what was that "we cannot interfere in every student's fight, it's just not possible."

He stayed home for about a month, until once when I lost it. I knew a lot of people at his college & I gathered each one of them. Dragged this guy to the college, got out of the car and when I saw the bullies, beat the shit out of them with a Cricket bat.

Needless to say, I was arrested and spent the night in Jail. But the other guys were so frickin scared that they refused to press charges and I was out by 4 AM.

The bullying didn't stop after that, but it did reduce to acceptable levels.

Hey guess what, when I went to school, there were bullies picking on kids. Trying to steal their lunch money, entice them into fights, intimidating them, etc.

Back then you had three options.

1. Stand up to the pricks and throw down in the school yard. Yeah you might get your ass kicked, but a fight generally ended the ongoing bullying.
2. Go tell mom, dad, a teacher or the principal and hope they got dealt with.
3. You lived with it and were always looking over your shoulder at school.

Now days kids are fucking pussies and scared to stand up for themselves, just cause they might take an ass whippin. They have some dick head picking on them at school and instead of finding a way to deal with it, they run home and post it on Facebook. Then they get ridiculed so they decide to kill themselves. What the fuck? Kids shouldn't have to live in fear everyday at school, but taking some kind of action is the only way to fix it.

The media seems to have fallen in love with the "bullying" story lately. They're hyping it up like it's some new fad when in reality it's been going on since schools were invented.

I did #1 and #3 depending on their size and the size of their friends compared to me and my friends. Sometimes #3 is the only option. #2 was never an option, I'm old enough to have gone to school when the teachers didn't give a fuck about who was picking on who so long as you kept your fucking moutt shut during class.

o.O

Yo, can confirm.

Still in highschool can't even fight someone cause the cops come you get arrested and suspended. Seriously fucking retarded.

Regardless if youre the bully or not.

Also who the fuck cares whos the bully. no one should get punished in a fight.

Like jesus fucking titty fuck.

My elementary school days were some off the gayest cause "tackle soccer is dangerous".

Fuck your dangerous bullshit woman. I wanna play my tackle soccer bitch, you hear me?

Cunts.

Nah overall elementary school was an enlightening experience. But fuck your bullshit rules woman. You hear me? I wanna play my tackle soccer.

k peace.
Seriously? Shit, that's ridiculous. At most you end up with a graze. We were allowed to play "hackey football" - basically a game we came up with that was basically soccer, but anything went - you could kick someone, shove them, whatever.

Good times :D

Everybody in my family take Tae Kwon do lessons as soon as they can walk.
But then everybody in my place knows some martial arts or boxing, and we boys were always into fisticuffs. Suspensions and expulsions were for the extreme crazies, and I was never suspended. But then our teachers used to give us real Manly Punishments.. Like beating the shit out of us with all sorts of sticks and canes. We even thought of going to court at one time, for their brutality, but we thought it wasn't man enough and decided we will wait till school ends to exact our revenge. But by the time we finished school, we forgot and forgave :-)

But I still remember all of them.. Fucking sadists...

PS: Ragging is not bullying. It is totally different and you can never stand up against it because you are going to stand up against the whole senior batch. It is a group thing, and happens only in College.. to the freshman batch by the immediate senior. Mostly fun stuff, but gets extreme in some places..

My solution, mandated molestation.

Back in the day you could do something about it....directly.

Now you have to go through 10 different channels , call school admin who hopefully will deal with it.

Let me tell you something, beating the crap out of a bully just once ends problems pretty quick. There's a reason we have so many school shootings - the natural order of things has been changed.

Bulling has always existed, and will always exist. The problem is we've taught kids that it isn't ok to defend yourself.

My son just spent 3 days at home suspended because he jacked a bully up. He got cupcakes and an xbox game :)

I was proud of him.

This is the main problem right there....Instead of taking the time to figure who was at fault they treat the kid protecting themselves the same as the guy starting the fight. They tell the kids to deal with it and then when they do the slam them for doing so. WTF?? The bullies know this and take advantage of it knowing it makes retaliation that much less likely.

Less of a problem where I sent my boy to school (small rural school) than in the large cities but still some of the teachers came from that environment so you still have to watch what the hell is going on.

I know ragging is not bullying in entirety. It is just a form of senior bullying, and can be considered a pseudonym of hazing.

I was just making a point that school bullies are everywhere. And there's no such thing as it being an "American Problem" like that ignorant punk pointed out.

I, myself, was bullied as a Kid. It was School bus bullying. When I was in the third grade, my parents enrolled me onto the school bus. Everyday at 7.00 AM the bus came to pick me up and it was almost empty. I'd easily take the window seat in the third last row and sit pleasantly.

This went on great for the first 2 months, until a bunch of kids from a place two stops ahead of me decided to enroll in the bus as well.

Now, these boys were 5 Muslim boys, who's guardians were apparently involved in some "not so legal" activities. They were school bullies, however, I hadn't had a chance to confront them since they were all students of different divisions of the school.

The bullying went on in the bus as well. The youngest of them, would everyday make me get up from my "window seat" and take the seat. And then he'd pretend as if he was my friend and thanked me for the seat. The truth was, I was terrified of him & his brothers.

For the first year, he just took my seats. From the second year on, he started taking my lunch box as well. This went on till I was in the fifth grade.

One morning, I plain simply told him, I am not getting up and he can suck it up and find a seat elsewhere. He gave me a hard look and then began whispering amongst his group, telling them that he was gonna fuck me over and shit. He said it in such a voice that I could hear, every word of it.

I was petrified. But I decided to stick to my stand.

The following day, he tried to get the seat again, but I declined.

The third day, he finally used force, kicked me, pulled me along with his brothers. I gave in a fitting struggle. Seeing the scuffle, the bus attendant came and the guys were shooed away.

On the fourth day, he purposely squeezed a sachet of Tomato ketchup onto the back of my shirt. I was the laughing stock of the entire bus.

And on the fifth day, I finally alighted the bus when his stop came. His mother & aunt had come to drop him, I didn't complain, but rather told her the entire incident of the past five days. And in front of her & everyone else, I loudly proclaimed, whatever he does, I am not falling into his demands.

His mother was shell shocked at this, so was he. The next day, she came over to my house with his father, they apologized to me. The next day, this guy and his brothers apologize to me.

We've been buddies ever since.
