Anybody here owns a Xenforo forum? Been reading a lot about xenforo v/s vbulletin around the web & now I'm confused which one to go for.

Suggestions?

As far as I know, the majority of the devs from vbulletin moved over to form Xenforo, which would suggest that Xenforo would be the more actively maintained now. If you're going to be needing alot of custom plugins however, VBulletin may be a better option due to its age and popularity.

Thanks Jake.
I've read mixed reviews about Xenforo. http://www.wickedfire.com/members/trigatch4.html owns androidforums.com & says Xen is poor in terms of SEO. http://www.wickedfire.com/enlightened-members/93900-ask-me-anything-4.html#post1668175

Also, big boards around the web have been using vbulletin since years so visitors are familiar with it's interface - the feel, looks, signup page etc. Thats a minus with Xenforo as of now.

Def get vbulletin. You will find the most add-ons, themes, hacks etc for it. Theres a great seo add-on but i cant remember the name. Its been a while since i used it.

I have an (almost) big board Xenforo site after years of running vB.

Xenforo is cleaner and more modern functionally.

vB has more marginal features and is bloated.

The only key downside to Xenforo is lack of native mobile support. There are some hacks which are decent, but we're all waiting for the official mobile theme to come out.

You can of course use external apps for mobile compatibility, and I am sure it is something that will be addressed soon.

I do not regret my move to XF one bit.

Can you comment on the user experience of your members? My project is oriented towards tech talk so I'm expecting my users to be already familiar with vb boards & I'm kind of skeptical whether they'll like the look of xenforo, albeit cleaner!

They like it. It feels more like facebook and less like a forum.

They will probably love it because it's fresh, it's not the same tired old interface, and it's modern.

I am another big fan of XenForo. I have been happy with the switch from vB/IPB and so have the users.

vBulletin 4 is just living on the name recognition created by the developers that now work on XenForo instead.

Internet Brands doesn't even use their own vB4 product which has been out for over 3 years now. Click on some of the links on their website below and scroll to the bottom for the version number, every link that I checked is still on vBulletin 3.

@FatalError, you can sign up on the Xenforo site and play with it. It's a much more modern experience than any other forum software.

Alright finally decided to go with the Xen - its an awesome piece of software to own. Thank you bros!
