XSitepro - you guys recommend it?

Only if.........

you can't handle wordpress.

You can do everything xistepro does with WP and a few plugins.... plus you can do a lot more.

The biggest problem with xsitepro is that when you build a site with it you can only really work with it in xsitepro. Sure you could use another editor, but it's a pain in the rear with lots of pages needing updating for minor page changes.

Now having said that I WILL use it if I'm in a hurry, and don't plan on selling, or needing anything other than a few pages. It's fast for what it does and is.

A better question is why are you considering it........... what need do you expect to fulfill with it?

I'd, personally, rather use ExpressionEngine if I'm paying for a CMS. Much better scalability, customization, ease-fo-use, and support. This is mainly for professional websites where I'd not want to develop my own CMS or scripts.

Other than that, I'd use WP for the same reasons stmadeveloper mentioned. Especially for cheap affiliate sites that need a blog.

For everything else - code it by hand.

I "tried" a copy and the code is indeed miserable shit. But you can defenitely create a lot of variations of a design real quick.

Its a pretty good idiot-proof setup if you just want to be able to get a site up quick and edit it and change designs quickly with no coding skills. Adding affiliate code, changing graphics and colors is quite simple in it. It SEOs surprisingly well too.

Unfortunately, if you ever want to change a site made in XSP to a different format, its incredibly difficult to extract anything from the code, you pretty much have to start from scratch.

wordpress is the best bet ... it's the easiest thing on the web, lol, not even joomla, drupal, xsitepro or some other shit.
