Yahoo / Microsoft Deal Imminent...Again

finally a competitor to the big g, take yahoo's market share with bings result quality and the search wars ignite again

i'm all for it.. google needs some proper competition. while nothing is certain it's more likely if this goes through.

I swear..Im going to church this SUnday and pray for this to happen. I want to see competition against GOOGLE...

Also, MS should make a free OS and make it like Google OS.

Fuck yeah!

That'd be great! Instead they charged for the pile of shit they call Vista, but everyone is on their nuts now with Windows 7, problem solved!

Yes this does sound promising, we'll see, but if you think google are going to be affected by this... nigga please...

google will shrug it off. msn might become more profitable with their advertising than either (msn and yahoo) currently are as separate companies, but google will see proportionately greater returns with their OS while still consuming a larger slice of the advertising pie. they won't loosen their policies because they'll still have more traffic and because of that, their advertisers aren't going anywhere. what they lose by rejecting shady advertisers, they gain in user trust which brings more traffic to those advertisers who follow their policies.

Hope to see that happening. It does not matter how Google reacts. But one thing urgently needed for sure in the market is more balanced competition.

exactly. this merger wouldn't touch google but that's not the point here.

Supposedly Yahoo and Microsoft will be announcing the details of the deal in the morning, but according to sources, here are some of the major points:

—Bing will become the default search engine on Yahoo, according to AdAge. Bing therefore would be able to claim 28 percent of the search advertising market, according to the latest comScore figures.
—Yahoo’s search engine will use the Bing brand
—Yahoo will “take on exclusive representation of Bing inventory”
—The WSJ says that Yahoo will also sell ads on some other unspecified Microsoft sites
—Microsoft’s AdCenter platform, however, will be the underlying sales technology platform
—The companies expect some interest from the Justice Department, which was reportedly an earlier sticking point for Yahoo’s board
