Yelllow pages-esque business directory listing

Hi

I have a friend whose adamant about starting a local online business directory listing, it will be in print as well as online.

He's asked me to set up`a small website just to show to clients that they are a legitimate business.

What I want to do is find an open source script (ideally), of a CMS which allows this functionality, it simply needs a basic listing functionality by genre and a payment gateway to take payments from the businesses.

So far my searches have yielded directory listings services for websites, such as link farms, etc.

Can you advice me on which would be the best solution.

Thanks DBWebDev do you know if this is suitable for multiple industries?

I get the feeling that this plugin is just for one industry, I'm targeting multiple industries in a given locality.

I don't see why not. You can make a directory out of anything, plenty of scripts out there - some paid, some free, don't have any recomendations for you though.
