Yelp outs 8 businesses trying to buy reviews

well angie's list went public and are profitable so I consider them the profitable successor. I don't use either for anything though and I agree there's space to improve over Yelp. The trick is to monetize correctly, which Yelp has failed at miserably.

Angie's List has lost $36 million so far this year, I wouldn't consider that profitable lol.

Wouldn't these companies be competing with Google places and local search stuff? Seems like a bad business to be in imo

Yelp sucks..period. Their system let's fake reviews get through, while honest real reviews are filtered. I am dealing with this shit with a client right now. Poor guy's competitor wrote a shit ton of bad reviews about his business. They all stuck while all real reviews from actual customers got filtered.

I hope they revive the class action law suit against them.

Fuck Yelp and fuck Trip Advisor.

They do get me a lot of work though.

So many local businesses get super stressed over this stuff (for good reason too), when the reviews are often fake in the first place from competitors, disgruntled ex-employees, etc..

For them to then out them like this is just a huge dick move, when they're already destroying their business.
