I did last night.

I made a sarcastic comment in public with multiple people in earshot. Taken literally and out of context, the words could be misinterpreted as an admission of criminal wrongdoing.

Later, someone pulled me aside and told me that I could get into a lot of trouble for saying it out loud like that.

And now it's got me thinking- what exactly are the boundaries of free speech?

I'd hate to have to run around watching my mouth 24/7 and not having a sense of humor. But these days I wonder what I could get in trouble for.

PS- joke was not related to 9/11 or terrorism.

How are you gonna post this thread and not tell us what you said?

BTW, No regrets ever.

Because shit makes you paranoid.

What grounds do they need to turn my life upside down over a joke?

So you are worried that you are going to get into trouble for talking shit about someone who does not exist man I would hate to have girl problems

I guess, these are the words

Everybody says something at some point that could have been said better or not said at all. Relax and deal with issues as they come, if they come. If you feel that you should apologize and it will fix things, apologize and fix things. I said a lot of shit within the last couple of months that I shouldn't have said, but past is past. Learn from the past experience and don't do the same shit in the future.

I say it like I see it, but sometimes you have to watch what you say around where you are, if you are somewhere you never been with people you don't really know, it creates a problem, I always pick my words carefully around idiots.
