You Need A Budget

Installed on Linux but it doesn't give you a trial key :(. Tells you to go to site to get a key but its just downloads the .exe installer.

Saw this is bumped so that being the case just thought I'd chime in: this software is the kittie's tittie's. They have awesome support too, for anyone on the fence I highly recommend watching their intro to YNAB webinar.

The easiest budget system I used in college was the envelope system.

- Cashed out my income every month
- Pay rent / bills first
- 10% goes into savings
- The rest I physically divided into envelopes. One for gas, one for groceries, and one for fun / anything else. I kept paper dividers in my wallet.

That works until your budgets for all those things is $1k+ month each. Who's going to keep $1k envelopes around?

Manage it to get it work on linux?

I fucking love u man.

Tell me how u did it. I tried and nothing worked.

Nice software YNAB. It calculates things my way. I was keeping excel sheets and this solve this problem.

It has android app too.

They seem organized, even software itself has a few flows. I hope they will patch it soon.

My recommendation: If you are a millionaire, don't buy it. If you want to put your wife into 'don't spent money sweetheart' mode, that's the best way to achieve.

Hello friends,

I think the best type budget is where you make so much money you no have time to spend all before dead.

Good luck bros

I installed it from this https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=59507 and just realized this is version 3.6 fail. I'll try installing version 4 with Wine like amateursurgeon did and let you know.

How to run YNAB 4 in Linux using WINE : YNAB 4 on Linux

..............soooo who on this forum is plugging / owns this website?
Lol, not me, Bro... Just a true believer. Dude named Jesse Meacham (Mormon CPA from Utah) actually owns and had this shit coded, and has done a kick-ass job I might add.

About YNAB

Literally put my family's (wife's) spending in proportion and in control, and I tried a LOT of shit, even Envelopes, Dave Ramsey, etc, ad nauseum.

No affiliate program, even, which SUCKS. I could flog this So Hard.

But Jess don't Need Me... :error:

Just a heads up that YNAB is on sale for $15 on Steam right now. I just picked it up because of all the good stuff I heard.

I use this software. It's awesome, and it tracks absolutely everything you spend (as long as you have the self-discipline to update a purchase every time you buy something). You can get it on your iPhone, and it syncs between the software on your comp and your phone. No more need for receipts. You can also look back on YNAB's tracking feature and brag to yourself how much money you've spent. I spent $5 on a single organic cucumber according to my track record lol. Like a boss.

I used this for awhile and then eventually fell off. I've found the envelope method is the easiest for me, at least with spending money. If I take all my spending money out in cash, then I wont rack up charges on my debit without paying attention.

And what are you following these days ?

Different Bank accounts :)

Peasants. If you have to budget, you are not making enough.

I have to budget because the 5 lamborghinis I own which require $100k weekly maintenance fees don't leave enough me leeway to purchase organic cucumbers. Are you calling me a peasant?
