I am 21 years old and recently launched my own SEO business with a friend of mine. It has been a rewarding experience and I have learned a lot. I never saw myself as an Internet Marketer because frankly I thought marketing was shady and immoral, but I have found that only working with inherently good companies (based on criteria in alignment with my beliefs) alleviates this problem.

I see tons of potential to make a positive impact with IM through innovative new technology and techniques. Still, I am very overwhelmed by the abundance of information, various paths, and constantly-changing environment.

My question is:

In the opinion of those of you who have been doing this for years, where should I focus my cognitive resources if I want to be as successful as possible in this field?

Any input is appreciated... even if you see this as a platform to make a witty response so people think you are cool. I promise not to judge you.

I understand your moral dilemma. I've represented some big brands at one point, including rapewhistles.com.

Business was great. The first 4 years we dropped rape percentages by 80%. Unfortunately, we saw an equal decline in whistle sales. They worked TOO well. Now we're in a dilemma. Should we start making less effective whistles in order to increase demand?

You know you're at WickedFire right ??

Here's two pieces of advice you may not have expected but will help you.

1) stop using the word innovative to describe your value proposition. I'm a pretty chill guy but whenever a business/prospect/potential client uses that word with me, I stop talking with them immediately. The word means nothing.

2) Talk like "where should I focus" instead of "where should I focus my cognitive resources". Simple communication = more sales... unless you're shopping for clients that like to say innovation a lot.

I used to be involved in eCommerce. I still am, but I used to, too.

I'm a 64 years old young entrepreneur with portfolio of over 950 posts on WF. This year only it generated sweet 500+ WF Likes in revenue. I also like ROI.

I too have recently been a young entrepreneur and started my own SEO bznz. I too have had an amazing experience. I am now gay webmaster, don't judge me please

Well, It would be illegal and wrong to pay people to go around and rape people to help increase sales. So I think you're legally obligated to make a less effective whistle. If you keep your product where its at maybe we'll see a world for a few years without rape. That means you'll also go out of business. If that happens all hell will break lose the second you go out of business. The flood gates will open & they will be raping everybody. I don't think you'll be able to live with yourself if that happens. So I propose... You create a new product and you can call it the "no false alarm whistle" that only really works when you're being raped or so they say you know what I mean ;). That way when they normally blow in it to test it out it explains why it doesn't make any noise. Call it a feature to help stop those pesky false alarms. Win-win-win. I am glad we figured out this moral dilemma.

Cognitive resources, really?lol

Are you asking what specific skills in SEO you should learn or in general internet marketing? You would be better off talking to a specific individual either irl or on this forum and pay them to pick their brain for a couple hours than making a post "How do I SEO?!"

Also, never tell people your age in business unless asked. For similar reasons you never tell anyone how much money you make. The only people that do either of those are either trying to prove themselves or recruit you for their MLM

I'll give ya a real answer...

Invest in yourself... keep learning... keep growing!

There are no magic buttons, put in the time and work hard. It's the same as everything else in life.... you reap what you sow...
