Your Worst Financial Situation and How You Emerged From It

Back when I was 21, I managed to lose my job, fiance, and apartment in the span of a week. I was also in crazy debt. I lived in my car for weeks (middle of winter), depressed as shit, ate whatever I could find, and had like $50 to my name. It was only after a friend took me in that I was able to straighten my life out. I was a complete mess back then. A kid who thought the world couldn't touch him... and then it did.

Taught me alot about life, responsibility, and becoming a man. I never want to do that shit again but it was a good life lesson. You're not invincible. Amazing how much we grow up and learn from our mistakes. 9 years later and I'm in a much, much better place. I might not be a millionaire but I can pay my bills, have a warm bed, a roof over my head, and food on the table.

@Lambo
How the fuck did you get that much money for student loans? Maybe (most likely) its the credit crunch but I went to the bank a couple months ago to get a $160,000 loan for college. They told me that I needed to freeze $160,000 in my bank (and it would remain frozen until I paid everything off) for them to give me a loan. For smaller amounts it was the same deal.

So basically I would have to pay interest to use the money I already have (since if they gave me a loan they would freeze my money in the bank).

a few years ago I beat my wife and grew weed in my house with my kids around after losing my real estate license and went to the can for a few years. Came out pretty low, but then launched some crazy conspiracy NWO sites and a pretty successful loan modification forum and blog that conned a lot of people and now I just sit on my computer for 14 hours a day going apeshit and accusing random well off people of ludicrous things because of some shit I started because I thought I was bigger than Jesus and could preach to the masses on a forum full of people who don't give a shit.

Yours truly,

Wait, are you saying Maurice Clement Bedard, Jr (also known as Moe Bedard) is a wife beating Jew hater?

LOL. My divorce cost me 100K, only winners were the f'n attorneys. Hate most of them.
Ended up neg $150K- after a business failure with the X and the D. Still diggin' outa that hole. I just keep moving forward and refuse to give up. I'm 49 and starting over from scratch. Plugging along till I find my formula. I learn something everyday and try at least one new thing everyday. Some are minor successes, some minor failures- no big win...YET. Sooner or later some of these seeds are gonna bloom...... Thanks to WF I learn so much.

Had about $18k in debts a few years back... just kept working, working, working, and working.... til I made ~$10,000 off adsense one month, then next month I was in the clear.

For anyone looking for some encouragement, empowering words. This post is fucking awesome.

I was in debt about $250 to the bank. The hospital wanted $12000. Hadn't been employed in six months. No gas in my car. Denied unemployment because I was W9 before this point. Collections agencies, student loans. You get the drift. Finally, I pulled all the notices, etc into a binder. I called each of them up, and tried to reason with them. Some of these agents don't know the meaning of the word "reason." I MUST HAVE been holding out on them.

Well, I know it sounds pathetic, but my mom used to be a collections agent. She was quoting laws they had broken right and left, and threw in a four letter word or two (something she never does), screamed at them until a supervisor was brought forth, and then said the same thing. After verbally assaulting many collections agencies, they left me alone. Still didn't solve my problem.

I checked Monster.com and other sites daily, craiglist for easy money, and other stuff. In fact, once I tried selling my spot in a Black Friday line at Target. I got there at 6 PM the night before and was second in line. I wanted to sell position 1 for $1000, which I probably could have done at Walmart....

Anyway, this all came to no avail. I got a job, eventually. Had to fight tooth and nail to get it and then to keep it. I was a salesman, working 70 hours a week, door to door. $500/week, though. I got my butt out of that miserable situation, then had to quit after an attack dog got a hold of my leg and nearly killed me. I couldn't walk for 70 hours per week. It just wasn't happening.

Now I'm with the HC guys, life can't be better.

when my business get bankcrupt because my partner cheated me. am just moving forward and striving hard just for my kids..

If your mom was truly on her game, she would have turned those violations of your FDCA rights into the threat of reporting them to the governing agencies. Only works if you've recorded the calls, but at that point, you can walk away with money in your pocket. Or at the very least, buy back that debt for pennies on the dollar.

Bahahaha, spammer back in 06? Man, my best day with that shit was about $15k, with $0 expenses. That was the life...

I know this is an old comment but man, that is some sick shit lol. I think it's definitely possible to do stuff like this now, but won't make much money and have to be very careful about which sites you do it on. Obviously not on FB or whatever but on some of the more lax/lesser known social networking sites. Thanks for this. In need of start up capitol.

Nope it's actually still the same IMO. Last time one of ours tracking codes got copied by a spammer he was hitting 50-100k visitors a day to his/our lander by the end of his "campaign" which easily translates to $15k+/day

We were able to reverse engineer his technique pretty easily and it's amusing to see what kind of old school techniques still work.

Things learned from this thread.
1) Don't get married. And if you do make sure to sign a pre-wed agreement where all your shit stays yours after the divorce.
2) Don't take out student loans

Man, lots of old threads being resurrected lately. Dat search function. Are we being nostalgic all of a sudden?

Worst financial situation ever? Mom was feeding us Oodles and Noodles one night. This was a typical night for us. I says, "Mom, it's time for you to feed us some lobster. Fuck dis Oriental Noodles shit." So she took us to Red Lobster. Turned my shit around that night. The power of suggestion.
