This time of year is always a problem in our house. When we want stuff we usually just go get it. What do you get people that already have everything they could want? Well everything in reason anyway....

Nice bottles of Scotch work. My dad barely even drinks, but nobody knows what to get him, so he'll sometimes end up with like 6 bottles of Scotch.

For presents, I give experiences to people who have everything (and many times to those that do want shinny shit). Both my family and I, for the most part, don't have any shinny shit cravings. We have what we want materially.

So instead of crappy material shit, I'll take my parents/GF/Family/Friends for an overnight in a swanky all inclusive hotel, a day tour on a yacht to some island, river rafting tours, send my folks to another country, etc.

My parents don't have much money, so they get me little trinkets, and they are personalized enough that I like 'em (USB flash drives, external hard drives, geeky shit, pipes, etc). My sister gets me booze, of which I already have a nice little collection (which I hardly ever drink from, I mostly give it to guests). My friends either get me nothing since they know I don't want them spending their money stupidly, or get me booze.

Some new cooking stuff, spices, and hot sauces. Habanero guy here. And as always, my top 5-10 books and cd's of the year - keep the bookcase fillin up.

After that, anything like grocery store gift cards to buy stuff that can't be legitimately writen off.
