YouTube Founders split $650m payout

Well, all the details on the YouTube buyout were released today.

3 YouTube Founders:

Chad Hurley- $326m
Steve Chen - $293m
Jawed Karim -$64m

Sequoia Capital gets $442m worth of shares for a $13m investment. Not bad for an 8 month return.

The third co-founder, Jawed Karim, received stock valued at around $64.6 million. After starting the company in early 2005, he backed out and returned to Stanford University to work on a graduate degree in computer science.

What's your favorite part about that? I read a newspaper article about him with an interview in it... he was a millionaire before youtube and is a masters student. He just wants to learn, and become a professor... he knows what he's doin'.

They are just now registered to sell. If they do sell any it will be known in a few days. Google yesterday filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission that details how many Google shares investors and founders of YouTube received as a result of the deal.
