yunouseworkflowy?

I'm just not comfortable keeping all of of my thoughts stored on their cloud.

Call me crazy, but that's just not a good approach for privacy concerns.

Interesting concept tho. Let me know when they have a stand-alone version.

I'll tell you what bro, you better hope your notes don't ever leak out. I personally have a $100,000 bounty on your notes, I'm sure there are much larger bounties out there for anyone who can manage to steal lUkep's legendary notes.

^_^

Yet today you wouldn't order parts to make a bomb online, would you?

(Yes, there are legit reasons to make a bomb, like removing tree stumps.)

We feel kosher about ordering coffeemakers and usually even lingerie online nowadays but most of us know that this info is being watched and we behave differently because of that knowledge.

With a mind organizational charting software saved in the cloud; it's much worse than being embarrassed about buying naughty things or getting put on the HSA watch list... Parts of your BRAIN is put out there on display, as is your business model in for some, and these things are inherently worth something if copied or studied.

If you were just using this to make a grocery shopping list; no biggie... Go right ahead. Reformatting your hard drive and need to plan out the steps involved? No problem.

But this thing looks like it invites much larger chunks of your life into the cloud. If people can see this like they do your shopping lists, then it's WORTH MORE to them. (At least for some.)

Things you wouldn't want to put out there:

1. Your business plan

2. Anything that you can be blackmailed for, such as evidence of a mistress

3. Any secrets at all, really.

It's just too inviting. In no time you guys will feel comfortable storing the combination to your wall safe on there! :costumed-smiley-013

AMEN!!!

I concur!!

I too am leery of putting any of my sensitive/critical stuff out on the damn net.

If I need to keep track of shit while out & about and want it synched, I'll be putting it on one of MY OWN private servers. Fuck that public shit!!

Yes, my FOIL hat has/does served/serve me well.

Lulz

can't see the value in adding this into my task management system now that i'm entrenched in omnifocus. omnifocus + evernote (for reference) + index cards (for your important tasks of the day) + agile results FTW.

workflowy looks like a very intuitive to-do list. you have to be online to add something in. that forces you to capture your tasks somewhere other than workflowy, which obviously sucks if it's your main to-do app.

does anybody use this in addition to omnifocus for some reason i'm not seeing? i can understand why some people might prefer it to omnifocus.

I started workflowy just for my writing. I needed to get back to the basics of outlining but always found traditional outlining to be overwhelming and hard to organize.

I have also been doing daily separate case studies on ORM stuff and wasn't satisfied with my organizational approach to logging the approach and the results. So when I stumbled on workflowy, other than there's not time-date stamp it was what I was looking for. Simple enough to capture my flow of consciousness yet able to organize it so that when I come back to it it's not just a big old mess.

My point is it doesn't have to be a replacement for whatever you guys are doing now, and instead might be suited for individual projects. However, once you get into it, you may be surprised as to the apps it starts replacing.

I have it open as I work. If I think of something I need or to check I add to it. It is a great tool that allows you work the way your brain is wired

I trust my personal e-mail on Google's email servers.
I trust my credit card info on multiple shitty e-commerce sites.
I trust the dirty conversations I have with hoes on facebook will remain private.
Fuck it, might as well put all my business secrets on workflowy.

But for real, yeah I use it, it's pretty good.

I like evernote. Support for every device and free image ocr so that any image you take becomes searchable. Also, a good browser plugin to make it easy to turn parts of a web pages into notes.

NEWSFLASH FOR PRIVACY TIN-FOIL HAT WEARERS:

Nothing you do is really that interesting, honestly.

Seriously, unless you are: famous, planning on being famous, doing something illegal, discovering on a cure for cancer, finding a way of synthesising an alternative to oil out of your own fap-leavings, storing bank details, building a nuke, or keeping a note of Coca Cola's "secret recipes", I wouldn't worry that much.

What if you are representing some big brands at some point?

After hearing turbo, I gave it a shot, and open it up, yesterday. I've still go it open jotting down notes, and even have it active on my iphone. It's pretty easy, and simple, and not convoluted like APP tend to get.

Look at freaking Adobe Photoshop, what exact it Adobe Bridge, and why can't I un-install a program I don't want... and when I accidentally click it open, jeez..
