After they fuck over and suck the blood out of GM, Ford, and Chrysler, they've decided that because of all the layoffs, their union dues are down! So they need fresh blood, of companies like BMW, Honda, Nissan, etc.

Fuck you UAW.
 


The UAW is why Saturn no longer exists:

At the same time GM's enthusiasm for Saturn was waning, a new power was emerging at UAW headquarters in Detroit.

Stephen P. Yokich, who succeeded Ephlin, was his polar opposite. He was a trim fitness buff who was prone to violent outbursts of temper. Yokich had first made his mark at the union by leading a lengthy 1979 strike against International Harvester, from which the company never fully recovered.

Yokich was suspicious of Saturn's novel labor practices, and proposed a significant change in the contract—reverting to more traditional shift arrangements.

After several skirmishes, he prevailed; within months he was elected president of the UAW.

Yokich was instrumental in GM's August 1996 decision to build a new midsize Saturn model at an existing GM factory in Delaware. It was a sea change for Saturn, imperiling the carefully crafted image of the harmonious facility at Spring Hill. But GM was able to avoid closing an existing plant, and Yokich was able to rein in the heresies at Saturn.

I thought the reason saturn is not around anymore was because they are shit for cars and no one buys them.
 
The UAW and similar groups are very much responsible for the loss of many manufacturing jobs in the US.

We're going to hell in a handbasket in terms of job growth and economy growth and they're enjoying every minute of it.

My point still stands, are YOU going to be volunteering to get rid of all the 'luxuries' our ancestors fought and died for?

there was a time in america where the president ordered the national guard in to point machine guns at cops who didn't like unions either

The UAW union is fucked, and over paid. Durr Hurr, 140k/year to bolt on this door to the frame... durr hurr.

UAW is not a luxury, it is the devil.

Fact is = Union based Automotive companies...in the ditches... Non-Union companies... still EMPLOYING people.

Fact is = Unions are parasites, sucking the life out of, and eventually killing its host.

Fact is = Unions DID serve an essential role when they first started. However, the Industrial Revolution is over now and there are regulations set on any industry. Unions now create, or rather protect lazy workers while paying themselves.

better trust those big corporations that outsourced all those products to third world slave labour camps

they definitely have your best interest at heart.
 
What they don't get is that the foreign automakers will just close factories and move all the jobs elsewhere. I'm generally in favour of unions - they have done some really good work for college lecturers over here, but when they get greedy and believe their own hype, it's the end for them.

Ex: The printers union in Fleet Street, London. Murdoch just closed the whole plant and moved to wapping.

The NUM - declared war on Thatcher. She responded by destroying all mining jobs in the UK and closing all mines. (although evidence is she provoked that attack knowing what would happen)

yes because people working a drill press sure deserve $140,000 in salary and benefits, as well as 30-and-out retirement benefits, right? 30 and out pensions are one of the biggest scams purported by unions.

Work for 30 years at the company and you get full salary retirement and full benefits retirement no matter what. Started working at age 18? You can retire at full salary at 48.
