Eighth Grader Executed for Scaring a Cop « LewRockwell.com Blog

Anyone who outright trusts Police, it will come back to bite them. A lot of people where I live have this "THEY'RE OUR SAVIORS" mindset that completely sickens me.

If it were that clean cut a case he would be off the force.

I do not trust the Police blindly but I am glad they are there. Yes, there are bad ones, just like in any group of society. That's why we have checks and balances.

Several different agencies all monitoring each other backed by a court system and powerful free legal assistance that love to take cases like the one cited, if true. (ACLU to name one)

Sometimes the Police are out of control. But most of the time they are not.

oh, and one more thing as a side note. If you are ever questioned for ANYTHING - STFU and get a lawyer. Does not matter what it is for - get a lawyer. One of those checks and balances needed.

Do you really believe that?

I wish the good cops would stop sticking up for the shitty cops and just treat them like the scum they are.

Here in Philly we just had 2 corrupt cops get sentenced for a plot to rip-off a drug dealer with the help of another drug dealer. Serve and defend, ya know?

cops aren't mostly good, I don't know where the fuck people get that. They are in the biz for power, period. That's why they'll protect their own even when they do something really fucked up.

Of course there are a few good cops, but overwhelming majority are power hungry douche bags.

The police have no competition. What happens in any industry in which a single dominant player lacks competition?

Prices rise, service declines, and options for consumers dwindle.

As for the comment regarding an officer being removed from the force, you haven't been paying attention. I have paid attention for years. With time, I could drum up hundreds of examples of inexcusable behavior - including gunning down (i.e. murdering) innocent, unarmed people in front of witnesses - and being placed on "temporary, administrative leave" with pay.

I used to archive records of such episodes, and became overwhelmed by the volume.

Agreed. In addition to not being removed, they seem to usually get a nice paid vacation during the "internal investigation".

Don't do stupid shit and you won't get shot...

I am not condoning the killing of the kid, but its obvious the kid is a little trouble maker. He punched some kid, ran from the cops, hid in someones shed and did something to startle the officer into shooting his ass.

The real lesson to be learned here is don't run from the cops and then scare them when they got a gun to your face.

Yep. And the investigation is only to sate the public's outrage rather than to address the wrongdoing.

At everyone else, here are a few "isolated incidents":

Realize that I'm scraping the surface here. There is a mountain of evidence that demonstrates the jackbooted nature of cops across the country.

Do you realize the source of their funding? What constitutes good, or even acceptable, performance? Who defines what is appropriate behavior and inappropriate behavior? And if the public disagrees with these things, do they have any choice in the matter?

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

The real lesson to be learned here is don't run from the cops and then scare them when they got a gun to your face.

That's what you think is the lesson to be learned out of this story? I probably would have gone with the obvious that police officers repeat prior offenses should be taken more seriously but I'm glad you pointed out that the real lesson is for 8th graders not to run from cops.

I can't really say it any better than the author of the article:

Alvarado, who four times was on the cusp of being fired for insubordination, disobeyed a direct order on November 12. He falsified key details of the shooting in his official report. A 14-year-old boy was gunned down execution-style for the venial offense of engaging in an adolescent scuffle, and for compelling an overweight middle-aged badge-polisher to run a few hundred yards.

After reading the first article. Who would have funded the Civil War? Would slavery still be legal because no one wanted to "foot the bill"?

Lincoln could have said....."We need to preserve the Union....eh, forget it, it will cost too much to save those southern states"

exactly. this isn't some weird isolated incident, this shit is happening all the fucking time. Cops are refusing to exercise restraint, and because of video cameras they are now getting caught. The only problem is that the superiors aren't punishing the ones that fuck up.

That cop and every other one that abuses his/her power should be locked away with the rapist and murderers. But people haven't made a big enough deal about it yet, so not only do they not get in trouble, most of the time they keep their jobs and continue with their brutality.

Every country in the world managed to get rid of slavery (many before the USA) without a huge war. It may have taken another 10-20 years, which truly is a horrifying thought, but are the millions dead, and the loss of states rights in the civil really worth a few less years of slavery?
