Fuck California, and Fuck the Dems

I'm surprised intelligent people choose to live in California. Is the beach and nice weather really that important? Maybe they are not so smart after all...

Yeah, thats one of the biggest reason. I lived in Virginia, NYC, Denver, and Laguna Beach and nothing touches Laguna Beach.

I live 20 steps from the ocean and 20 mins from any store I want.

New years eve I snowboarded in the morning and surfed in the afternoon. You honestly cant beat living here.

Vegas is 4 hours away, SD is an hour away, LA is an hour away, and the mountains are 2 hours away.

Thats why California slowly fucks us is because they know that we are not going to move and we will "pay" those stupid taxes.

Yea... I live in the midwest and pretty much everything is only a 2-3 hour plane flight for me. My cost of living is also about 1/2 of what it would be in California. I also have no desire to live near a beach. Maybe I'll get a villa near the ocean in Europe some day, but probably not in the US. Sailing around the pacific and Atlantic just isn't the same as the Adriatic or Mediterranean.

Trust me, paying 1800 for rent every month sucks so I get your point, but its all preferences. I do not ever want to use my AC in my apartment and I want to open my balcony and work overlooking the ocean everyday.

I wouldn't ever move, but i get your drift.

The only downside is that the water is COLD here, so going to the south of france or spain sounds pretty sweet.

LOL at people honestly thinking California does not have the most to offer for most people. Is it for everyone? No, but please don't try say that California isn't pretty much the BEST state of the U.S. to live in for most people. It is expensive as fuck and there are tons of illegal aliens, yes. Socal traffic is horrendous, yes.

I grew up all around the midwest, spent a lot of time in Ohio over the recent years. Family on east coast and down south, so spent a good amount of time in these areas too. Moved to California and it is hands down the BEST state IMO. Nothing even comes close in my mind. Anyone of my family/friends that have grown up in other places that has come to visit literally has made it their life goal to move here.

If southern California could get their shit together and pull their heads out of their asses with great public transit like the bay area, it would be 100% the best state IMO. Traffic is what kills socal for me...and the somewhat "cocky" mentality of some of the people living there. I hate driving as it is, driving in the LA area is an instant migraine for me. People plan their life schedules around traffic...fuck that mess.

In terms of networking opportunities, weather, recreational activities, entertainment activities, the list is endless, etc.....this state blows every other state out of the water (no pun intended). Florida might be a close second....maybe. But they have the "humid" heat that is fucking miserable. At least out here, it can be 95 and still be comfortable. It hits 95 in Missouri and you're a fucking puddle when you step out the front door.

The whole snow thing is overrated too. When I want to see it a few times a year, I can. Spend a few years NOT waking up in the morning and scraping through a ft-deep ice blocks on your car windows and locks for four months, or worrying about busting your ass when walking up people's front porches and on public sidewalks, etc....

It is really just about "quality of life" for most of us "here in the promised land" I assume.

Saying that, I believe location has very little to do with emotional health overall, but you should always stack the deck if you can, so I say why not. Life can be shitty enough as it is....

tldr: I thought it was overrated too until I actually lived here for an extended period of time. I hope we eventually secede.

About the comments on Wal-Mart et al. being the big pushers for this, happened across this recently that I thought was pretty interesting:

Wal-Mart Is Behind The New State Affiliate Taxes « Danno's Blog

Makes the whole "unfair competition against small business" argument, which is invalid from the get go anyway, downright funny. I wonder if people who say that realise who the big pushers behind this cause are.

Wow. If that article is true, this tax that's "helping small businesses" is actually destroying them.

A masterstroke of corporate douchebaggery. Wal-Mart took over small town America, now it wants to take over the internet.
