Sorry to hear it.

I've only gotten two notices in the last 6 years or so.


Each time I called my provider and told them that I had NO IDEA what they were talking about and that there WAS NO SUCH file on my computer!!!

I of course found the file in question and then deleted it. In fact, the first notice came like 6 months AFTER I had downloaded the file and then the second one came after I had watched the movie and DELETED it already.

Just get whatever file in question OFF your computer and out of your Torrent & Temp folder.





Now, to those who are SUPPORTING this crap!! Saying, "Quit Torrenting and Stealing shit." 95% of my torrents are shit I have ALREADY PAID FOR!!

I've said on here before that I will ALWAYS participate in P2P sharing and this is true.


I mainly use Torrents for Software as a Try before you Buy option. I don't want some damn watered down Trial Version with limited functionality. I'm unable to fully evaluate whether it will serve my business and be worth the Money or not.

So, I grab a full version and if it does what I need it to do I then BUY the product in order to have access to the updates and customer support.


No way in HELL would I lay down $2,000.00 to $10,000.00 for something after only examining a DUMBED DOWN LIMITED VERSION!!



Enough on that......on to what I MAINLY use torrents for these days......




I have the FIOS HD Extreme Package.


I do NOT have the type of schedule that allows me to watch a show when it airs.

For things like Game of Thrones, Dexter, and so-on I use the VOD that is included with ALL the premium channels I subscribe to and PAY FOR.


NOTHING pisses me off MORE than to try and watch something two days AFTER it aired and is SUPPOSED to be available on demand and it is NOT there.

OR

It is available in REGULAR RES on the VOD but NOT IN THE HD version that I PAY EXTRA FOR!!! Fuck me to tears!!!


So, since I PAY FOR the shows and the VOD service is included with that cost, I just put the show in a Torrent Que while working and then later when I get a break to eat or rest I can just stream it from whatever box I downloaded it to and then watch it on TV in HD.


Since I already PAID FOR IT and it has AIRED but is NOT available to me as PROMISED by my provider, why should "I" be punished for finding a way to get what I PAID FOR??!! It's BULLSHIT!! I should NOT have to Torrent a show that should be on demand and available to me in the first place.


The OTHER problem is that I want to watch MOVIES on demand. I sleep during the day and work through the night most of the time.


At say between 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. is when I usually stop to eat and try to catch a movie or something. BUT........my VOD service is usually UNAVAILABLE and I get a network error!!! ARGH!!!


I've called numerous times about this and it seems they are doing system maintenance during this time. I "understand" that I am in the Minority of their users and they cannot Cater to the few users they have that are like me.


So, when I see a Movie or show in the VOD Menu that I want to watch and it is unavailable to me I just pop it into a Torrent when I get back to work. Then later I "KNOW" it will be there for me.


So, it's ALL BULLSHIT!!!

I could be wrong, but common sense tells me that if ISP's are all of a sudden responsible for policing their customers, then it's going to cost them more coin to ramp up the software/hardware and manpower.

I think we may soon start to see isp prices rising as a result of this latest installment of the US police state agenda.

Of course, because it's not like Government or Big Entertainment is going to be paying ISPs the entire hardware, labor, and legal costs to implement this in its entirety. That'd be bad for their shareholders, might as well let the company and user it's forced on to foot the bill. That's just good business.
 
Sounds like mega arse ache all of this. Hope the UK doesn't go the way America has. I've been a serial torrenter for the best part of 6-7 years without hiding my IP.. Some of the EU laws they are trying to pass are getting close to censorship.
 
Considering 99% of people don't know what VPN is, I don't think they're going to give a damn about the 1% that do.

Also, to anyone saying TOR for torrents... you realize peoples LIVES depend on this service being functional right? When you're downloading the latest lil wayne album you're slowing down someone who's trying to get messages across in some oppressed country.
