great documentary on US interventionism. On netflix streaming.Isolationists, people who moan about US involvement overseas, people who claim the world will do fine without the US ought to watch the documentary.

PS- Lost a lot of respect for the Dutch after I saw the bit about what they did in Bosnia.

did they include the 3k+ people who'd still be alive working in some tall buildings in the US too?

I'm pretty sure that humans, who have thus far managed to linger on to this planet for over 100,000 years while other species died off can manage perfectly without the United States.

Sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.

Side note (and playing a bit of devils advocate), does anyone ever think that all these Anti-US documentaries/movements are some sort of very very subtle propaganda to undermine all their accomplishments and rewrite history?

Did they do the whole thing in German so its more like a world with no US?

Just in case some of you think that I'm fully anti-US, I feel I should mention that we had the best start of any country in the world's written history, and I'd argue that we acted as a force for good in the world all the way up until the civil war at least, and arguably after that until President Wilson was elected.

Since then there has been little to be proud of here. Sure, we landed on the moon and built some tall buildings and computers, but behind the scenes nothing was as simple as it looked and someone always got screwed for our accomplishments... Including ourselves.

So to respond to the OP, I'd have to say that the world would be far worse off without a Pre-1913 USA. It would also be far better off without a Post-1913 USA.

I mentioned this documentary with you in mind. So you might consider some contrarian evidence.

A more realistic position is more nuanced. A lot more gray than black or white.

Hold the phone... You expect me to go Pay for netflix so I can then go invest in who-knows-how-much time to watch a doc before I can answer on the thread?

I don't know if I should feel special, or just targeted...

Got a link to it elsewhere? How long is it?

Reminds me when I was 16, in high school in Texas, and this former WWII Nazi solider gave a speech to one of my classes. He said during the war, if they were going to be captured, they all wanted to be captured by either Canadian or American soldiers. Definitely not Russian soldiers.

So yes, although the US has caused lots of shit, I don't have an issue with them being in the super-power position. Who else would you like to fill the slot? China? Russia?

Why would they do it in German?

English would exist without the US. The non-bastardised kind.

Of the approximately 150k Allied troops that landed on D-Day, half of them were speaking bastardized English.

I love Churchill, and I think he managed his burden probably better than any man could have, but without US intervention in WWII, things would have gone a different way.

Why is this even an issue? The U.S. have done a lot of great things, but just like every country have some blemishes on their record. I'm so sick of hearing some sixteen year old Americans belly aching about how ashamed they are to have been born in the United States. Fuck you, go live in Ethiopia.

I'm not American by the way.

Yeah I realised what he was talking about seconds after I was allowed to edit the post.

:party-smiley-004:

I don't disagree.
