Actually, that behind the ear thing might not be a sure bet.

I met an old German guy years ago. He happened to be a Nazi WW2 vet who fought on the Russian front. He took a bullet behind the ear from friendly fire and it came out his eye socket. He spent most of the war in a hospital. Despite having some of his brain missing and having his face kinda messed up from his eye socket being caved in, he was alright.

Yep. You can shoot yourself in the dome and have the bullet travel around the inside of your skull and not actually kill you. Or you can shoot yourself in the face and simply blow off your face, and still live...

Nah, fuck that shit. The Swiss have this all dialed in. An overdose of barbiturates taken orally puts you to sleep and you die. This is a good documentary on Dignitas and it actually shows 2 suicides if you care to watch it...

To be clear, I'd opt to have someone shoot me in the back of the head when I was unaware, and I'd hope that they'd have the good manners to put a few more into me just to make sure the job was done right.

Have to admit, I hate the ocean too. No problem with lakes, rivers, pools, whatever... but just the vastness and deepness of the ocean I don't like.

I knew a hooker that got shot 7 times in the head with a .22 and survived!

Might want to go with a large caliber.

I'd probably start the car up in the garage, run a hose from the exhaust to the window, handful of pain pills washed down with some vodka and maybe top it off with some nyquil. Sounds like a nice easy way to go.

There's a place where I used to snorkel a good amount where it was about 250 ft deep. You'd go out, the bottom would drop off, then you are just in the blue, everywhere. So you swim, get stung in various places from things you cannot see and sometimes wonder what's behind you.

Good times.

It was one of those places where you could swim with wild dolphins but is now kind of crowded/commercialized.

Drowning is supposedly a pretty good way to go, after the initial pain from inhaling a ton of water, etc. It's supposedly pretty euphoric.

Suicide wise, best ways are to do something that first puts you to sleep, then to have multiple secondary things which can ensure you die. So e.g. take a load of barbituates to go to sleep, then have someone shoot you multiple times in the head.

Anything where you can take something that'll put you into a deep sleep you won't wake from, that then has guaranteed death following it. Taking an overdose, waiting until you feel drowsy, and jumping out of a plane, jumping in front of a train, sitting on a ledge that you'll fall off when you fall asleep that's high up above the ground, yada yada.

It's a pretty hard thing to do, at least for a reasonable person. There's a lot to think about, from impact on family to impact on the poor guy/girl that ends up killing you / finding you.
 
Surely the quickest way would be to strap explosives around your head all triggered from one button. You could use a Xbox controller button just for novelty value.
 
The terror when something really goes wrong in an airplane must be horrible. I hate the turbulence already. Would rather get kicked in the head by a horse and die instantly.

There was a plane crash (I don't recall which one) where the fuselage broke in two - essentially the front half broke off leaving the wings & engines intact. The vehicle then proceeded to climb at a steep angle with all the remaining passengers alive, and continued in uncontrolled flight for approx. 20mins before plunging to the ground.

Imagine being one of the people sitting just behind where it broke off... literally seeing it suddenly disappear and then having ~20mins of absolute terror!
(I'm sure some would have died of heart attack, and probably many unconscious of course).


edit: There was also the JAL one where passengers knew they were for it - 30 mins or so and many had written farewells to family & friends.

That was one of the theories about what happened to TWA Flight 800 but check out the recent documentary about that flight. Pretty nuts.
