Low Carb Diet > Low Fat Diet

Well, I brush my teeth 2x a day.

Not sure about you, but I never see any plaque buildup since I brush 2x daily.

I brush 4 times a day and that is with sonicare toothbrush. Even with that I saw some plaque buildup before I brush it off. Now I don't see any build up at all.

Bacteria love glucose. Plaque is made of bacteria.

Lots of carbohydrate foods are non-granular when broken down in the mouth and so can easily get stuck in nooks and crannies or adhered to the surface of the enamel in a film pretty easily which encourages plaque growth in those areas beyond what you'd normally see otherwise.

I know we tend to drink more beer than wine due to the lower alcohol content, but still... not a major difference right?

Thanks. That got me thinking.

According to the diabetes.co.uk site:

- larger beer has 10 to 15g of carb per pint.

- dry wine can have as low as 1-2g of carbohydrate in a modest sized glass (200ml)

1 pint = 473Ml

So larger beer has roughly twice the carb of dry wine.

Alcohol and Blood Sugar - Carb Content of Beer, Wine, Spirits

I also read that beer has more or less the same amount of antioxidants as wine, but they are a different type. Is that the reason doctors recommend a glass of red wine a day and not a glass of beer?

The thing that mainly got me thinking about diet a while ago, apart my steadily expanding waistline, was the bloated feeling and tiredness I'd get after eating even a modest amount of cakes, bread or pasta. So my aim is to remove most of the grains / wheat (and sugars) from my diet, which is why I'm thinking of cutting out beer, apart from the crappy taste of the beer here which is just about ok for washing down food). But I'm not religious about it.

Ingredients of Peroni: Water; Barley Malt; Corn grits; Hop pellets; Hop extract.

Dinner tonight: steak, potatoes with butter, carrots, valeriana and fried red peppers.

You know... this whole diet thing is still a big clusterfuck to me... I mean, yes there is strong scientifical evidence against carbs/sugars, but then you see these Italians and French eating fucking bread, pastries and desserts every damn day yet they are look slim and have the lowest obesity/cancer rates in the west. What do you make of this?

cool book written by a neuroscientist that talks about how eating carbs actually destroys your brain's health and makes you susceptible to diseases like alzheimer's.

Good book. Your brain really is an engine. You get what you put into it. You don't see rich people eating cheap and empty food.

But you see poor people eating it, soda and cheetos = you are going to want to play video games all day instead of building an empire for yourself.

Yet again, I spoke about the French and Italians eating bread every day, now take a look at what the Germans eat:

... and yet they are the best engineers and architects in the world.

I'm generalising from observation but ...

For a start the women here are in general heavy smokers, and that suppresses diet. Even one of my yoga teachers, a woman, who is at an amazingly high level of yoga, is a smoker!! I couldn't believe it when I saw her light-up after a session.

I read that the Med diet is good if compared with the high carb diet. I haven't read about a comparison with the high fat diet.

Italians eat quite small portions and they eat slowly. They also eat a lot of fresh vegetables, which are cheap and of a high quality here.

Pizzas are made with all fresh ingredients and have very thin bases.

Veganism and vegetarianism is massive here.

They have an outdoor life due to the weather and are very sporty.

Italians are mostly good looking people with nice body shapes, but they do plump-out a lot in middle age.

I'm from the north of Europe (like your sausage eating Germans) and high fat seems to be working. I'll give it to Christmas. Actually I was in Berlin in 2008 and as I was pouring cream into my coffee to go with the chunk of meat and roast potatoes that was for lunch, I remember thinking how they eat everything we are told not to in the UK.

I'm just doing an experiment on myself based on the hope that all the theory I've read and watched isn't a pack of lies! So far, so good.

I'm gonna get laughed out of this thread but if you can go raw, vegan, vegetarian, or pescetarian you will notice the difference. Combine that with exercise and you can turn yourself into a well oiled machine. Less sleep needed, extremely high energy levels, sharp focus, etc.

Out of all of those, raw is the pinnacle but its hard to maintain due to cost, time, etc.

You don't realize you're currently working at 50% because your brain has gotten so used to the permafog it's been in for your whole life. Cut out the breads and heavy meats and juice 3-6x day if you have the money. The results are scary.

It made me realize that I've been in a stupor for most of my life due to eating the shit that normal people eat every day. Stuff is not good for you.

Only downside is it can get boring, but I will cheat and enjoy beer and fish so I can still go out and have fun.

PS. My dick was solid before, but now its like its made out of asteroid material.

Good luck bros.

PPS. For those of you who look down on things like raw, you are no different than the people who said the internet was no big deal back in the 90's. I can guarantee that one day it will be the norm. Eventually, people will stop making fun of it and realize they'd rather live longer and feel better while they are alive and be able to still get boners past age 40 without some stupid pill. It just takes so long because everyone likes to make fun of shit they can't possibly understand.

The Massai people live on milk, animal meat and blood. Point is - what works for you.

One thing for sure though, high carb intake is killing Americans. And my GF's vegan diet is just awful.

Ask your girlfriend to watch cholesterol conundrum and then get her blood tested to see if the vegan diet is really benefitting her for cvd risk.

@mpbiz
What I know is that ketones is the brain's preferred fuel. The only diet that cures epilepsy for the past 100 years is a ketogenic diet, which is very low carb high fat. Anyway if you are feeling genuine benefits on an vegan diet then keep at it, different people have different preferences.

Disclaimer: I don't eat a lot of things that vegans eat, and I don't really consider myself vegan because I enjoy fish. A lot of vegans eat tons of soy and other garbage like fake chicken, fake beef, etc. and I wont touch that crap.

As far as I'm concerned, that stuff is just as bad for you as anything else.

At the end of the day, it really probably doesn't matter whether you eat red meat, carbs, etc. as long as your diet is 90% fruits, veggies, and nuts with 10% meat, coffee, whatever.

When your main source of food is fruit and veggies you'll feel like a machine. Juicing is the shit. We had some killer threads on juicing a while back for anyone who is interested. The real trick is to not just juice once a day, but 3-6 times a day depending on how far you want to take it.

:

Which part is cray? The best time to brush is after meals.

I could be wrong, but I always thought brushing too much kept the natural good stuff in saliva from doing whatever helpful stuff it's supposed to do.

BTW, I read your post about eating low-carb that mentioned you only eat meat once a day. What do you eat for other meals- lots of salad/vegetables?
