How come nobody uses a Mac? I can't even imagine going back to a PC when it comes to web development. I suppose if you are into gaming, then PC is superior, but if you're just doing web stuff, why not get a Mac?

Question: do you really need a quad core?

I got this setup 2 months ago for just less than $1000. Runs like a charm and I haven't even overclocked it. (good chip for oc)

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz dual-core 1333MHz FSB 45nm
ASUS P5K-SE/EPU Socket 775 Intel P35 chipset
2GB DDR2 800MHz (2x1GB)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 SATA NCQ 3.0Gb/s 500GB 32MB Cache
NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 512MB DDR3
Optical Drive 20X DVD-writer SATA
Chassis Antec Sonata III Quiet Mid Tower
Power Supply 500W PSU

You bought a computer with 4 procs and 2 gigs of memory. Nuff said.

Memory speed is not nearly has important as quantity.

Cutting the memory speed in HALF only drops performance by 3%. By the time your system goes past the L1, L2 and possible L3, you're losing already. The extra nanosecond won't matter. Spend your money on more L1 and more RAM.

Should have gone with at least 4GB and an x64 OS.

Well proc fsb is 1333mhz and the memory should match that. If I would of got 667mhz memories would certainely drop performance more than 3%. From what i know difference between 667mhz and 800mhz is like 20% so ... .

Anyways I already got x64 vista ultimate and I can add extra 2gb at any time but the way it runs now it's not needed .
