I think this is one of the worst arguments used by pro-choicers. If the child will have a poor family, a poor childhood, or other problems, abortion is the kind thing to do - or so the argument goes. Bullshit. I'm not saying don't get an abortion - I'm saying that people should never used this as an argument to. If the kid's going to have a shitty childhood, let them decide whether it's shitty enough to off themselves. If not, they're free to start anew once they're 18 anyway.
A true pro-choice position would advocate allowing the child to choose between life and death. Case closed.

Hellblazer, the problem here is that you're arguing from the viewpoint that a human is somehow more important or better than any other animal, and we're arguing that it is not.
If you're going to have any possibility of swaying people's thought around, you need to explain why humans are so special, and frankly, the argument can't rest on anything theological either, because that's just using the safe ground of telling people to disprove a negative.
